Actually, Deer, Mice, and rabbits are what is known as "opportunistic carnivores" and a lot of other herbivores are the same. This was discovered by a grad student who was trying to figure out which scavengers/predators would reach a fresh cow carcass (with no predator scent on it) first. He discovered that Deer and Rabbits were at the meat 80% of the time first.
