Also: the key itself contains a clue (seen clearly only at the end when it's drawn from the envelope): Its brand name is "Unico" - i.e. the "unique" or "only" one...

Finally saw the film last night... was also reminded of _Lost Highway_ - my personal favorite of Lynch's work - by the last scene. Some really good points!

great analysis of the film, it makes me think now just how similar the ideas in Enemy are to those covered in several Adam Curtis documentaries, which always revolve around those in power seeking new ways to exert control and then unexpected results happening because some factor or past event was never properly recognised for its consequences
