Context :
If water is still/not moving for a long time it means it's not safe to go in it, bacteria

I don't know why I've been on "brain eating amoeba in abandoned buildings" shorts lately, but I'm not complaining

For those who don’t know, finding water in a dark humid environment (any area prone to mold) is not a good sign. There is most definitely plenty of bacteria in there, assuming the object they threw in there looked heavy and somehow it didn’t sink

Fun fact: Brain eating amoeba are real! And if you think it’s just an exaggeration, sadly, it isn’t. They thrive in warm-ish waters but are usually quite rare (unless in heavily infected water like this)

Naegleria floweri (the brain eating amoeba) actually grows in waters that are still and around the room to warm temperatures, so you are actually right

If that water was in a video game it would deal at least 10 points of damage every second you’re in it

Had a buddy tell us a story. They owned a 400 acre ranch and had couple mines on the land. They found a cave with water that was super clear. For years they were swimming in it. They found out years later it was a mercury mine.

Next you should explore the basement of Chernobyl and see the Elefants foot

the brain-eating amoeba is probably the least of your worries, since it can only actually infect you if it gets into your nose, assuming it's even in that water to begin with.

What you should be worried about is the E. Coli, Dysentery, Cholera, Salmonella, Typhoid, Legionella, and possibly even Dengue or Malaria that you can contract from stagnant water.
