It wont calm down because the situation in the South China sea is absolutely 100% deliberate.
China has a deliberate policy of taking the entirety of the South China Sea by brute force, because then half the worlds sea trade will be under its jurisdiction, and it will seize the biggest single unexploited area of natural resources in the world. They are just doing it slowly, and firmly, and because nobody wants a fight, they are getting away with it.
At some point they are going to start drilling for oil on someone elses territory, or seize ships belonging to another navy, so this fight WILL happen at some point.
Its like someone sitting down on a bench next to you and very slowly inching their way towards you until you fall off the end. This is their policy. They are relying on nobody pushing back.

Thanks for this. When the first headlines came out about these cruise missiles this seemed extremely suspect. The distance between Yemen and Israel is like 2500km, so what the heck are the Huthis doing with those and why haven't they used them against SA (which they are also at war with)?
The idea some 'rebels' in Yemen have theater level cruise missiles just doesn't pass the sniff check.

I’ve seen the capabilities of the Aegis systems. To say they are incredible is an understatement. Great job on those missile and drone intercepts.

I am surprised no one seems to be talking about why they would send drones and cruise missile at the same target. To me, this is obvious. You send enough drones to tie up an Iron Dome battery and then you punch through with slower, but heavier warhead, cruise missile. I have also heard reports that as many as 21 drones were present - which is one more than you would need to drain a single iron dome battery of 20.

Ok, that was a damn impressive segue.

Great video again, Aaron. As unnerving as current events are, the information you share always manages to reassure me that on some level, things will work out.

1:44 I was pleased to see the SM-2 Block IIIA or IIIB was so effective. The SM-2 is a 30 year old missile, where the sole production line was closed in 2013. Raytheon restarted the SM-2 production line to fulfill purchases made by the Netherlands, Japan, Australia, and South Korea with new deliveries of SM-2 Block IIIA and IIIB missiles that began in 2020. If the United States received any of these new production missiles is not clear. However, it was announced the United States Navy is committed to keeping the Standard Missile 2 medium-range viable until 2035. If the the SM-2 Block IIIA and IIIB missile 30 year old design has been updated has not been announced. The SM-2 Medium Range Block IIIC Active is in final stages of development that has an active seeker head on the SM-2 airframe.

Harry Truman missed his opportunity to prevent all the mess we now have on Planet Earth, concerning Russia and China.

China believes the Spratly Islands are theirs. The international community, including international law, disagrees. It seems abundantly clear that China has no intention of altering its course. So, we either "hope that things will calm down" - just like we did with Putin - or we start to demonstrate some real resolve. If we don't do the latter, they'll just keep taking liberties. It's that simple.

Those other ships just need to let it be known that they are towing sea mines... Want to ram me now? Go ahead wrap that cable around your bow.
