Gen Z Aren’t Having Kids & Everyone Is Worried

gen z will be opting out in the conversation of having kids- at least for the time being. there are many reason why gen z aren’t having kids, but nobody is listening.

They raised rent, groceries, gas prices, interest rates, and utility expenses. But yet they're mad at us for not having kids.

This is not Gen Z's fault. This is the result of the dystopian nightmare previous generations have made of the world.

I don’t want children because I’m honestly scared of house prices and the economy, and I’m genuinely just afraid of child-birth itself

My middle school English teacher said this and ima put it here:

"If you can't afford to take care of yourself health wise, financial wise and emotional wise then you can't afford a child. a child isn't something you birth and play family and dress up all day everyday with, it's a BREATHING HUMAN BEING that's a bigger responsibility than any other responsibility you've ever dealt with in your entire life."

My dad keeps telling me "when you fall in love, you are going to want to have kids" for me it doesn't make sense. Personally I admire my mom for how good she did rasing us, and I know the amount of work and commitment she did, _and I don't want to do that_, I have at so high standard how is to care for a child and I don't think I can do that kind of commitment _FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE_

This woman read every book she could about raising children, she learned to cook, she learned about nutrition, she made sure to always be there for us but not overstep, she made sure we did sports, arts, she learned about medicine, she NEVER was late for us at school, she learned to sew and do all kind of handcrafts. SHE LOVES being a mom, and I don't think I'll ever love that as much as she did, and I think EVERY kid deserves a mom like her, and I don't think I can do that. I can barely take care of myself.

Not to mention, SHE DIDN'T WORKED, my biological father did, and now my mom regrets that decision since she doesn't have any work experience after he left us. Back then she wanted to always be there for us. Not only is a risk, is such a privilege and a luxury to afford being an stay at home mom.

I truly believe just planting your child in front of an ipad with no true human social interaction is a form of neglect

Part of the reason gen z isn’t having kids is because we’re becoming more aware of what that actually entails instead of just going along with social norms

I don't want kids. Not just because of financial stuff or mental stuff, I genuinely never felt the desire for motherhood. I just wanna be left alone, go to cool places, travel and get to do what I want when I come back from work instead of helping a kid with homeworks

I always feel angry and disgusted when someone tells me I’m gonna change my mind about not wanting kids. Stop acting like you know me more than I do. Grosses me out, I’m not some walking uterus with a bio clock, I’m a human with a lot of different goals and desires

I’m 31 with no children and I made the choice not to. They are always telling us don’t have kids if you can’t afford it but now they are mad at us because we took that advice

I honestly absolutely HATE when people ask if I'm going to have children, I have said I have never wanted kids, I aroace, and a minor, I am 13, why are they asking me when I'm going to have children if I'm a minor

My parents told me the other day "hey, you dont talk to us a lot and you kinda just chill in your room for hours at a time. We think you may have depression. Now, there are 2 ways to fix this. Either you get back to normal, or we beat you till you get back to normal"

I believe that you shouldn't EVER ask more about getting children after they said "I am not having kids." Because it is just uncomfortable

For me it's
1. Zero chance for owning a home
2. Horror stories about pregnancy I heard from soooo many women close to me
3. Being around gen alpha and seeing how they've been raised by millenials... that was a final nail to my childfree coffin.

i was staying with my older sister for spring break and it was like almost 8pm and we hadnt eaten all day when my stomach groweled and she looked at me and said ¨öh my god i forgot to feed you, i eat like once a day so sometimes i genuinly forget¨ then she proceeded to say ¨i can barely take care of myself i would be a horrible mom¨
