This comment way over a home owner capable, I’m dealing with a shower/tub combination. Recently bought home so I have no history on it. Currently there is only a shower head, no spout for bathtub. There’s a existing hole for waterline spout. I’ve been watching your videos since starting on house problems. You are Very helpful, Thank You. Think this may be over my head!

I definitely appreciate the level of detail you include in your descriptions. As a handyman, I do so many different kinds of projects that I need these extra reminders and notes so crucial steps remain in sequence. Thanks for confirming the importance of anchoring PEX and always switching to copper when pipe needs to breach the wall. I didn't hear you mention gauging plumbing rough-in height with tile size and layout to avoid grout lines falling behind escutcheons, trim plates and tub spouts (when possible), but your finished product demonstrates this preferable aesthetic.
I currently have yet another project including a tub conversion to shower, and a tub replacement, in tandem with a PEX system upgrade from old CPVC for the cold. This is in a condo w/steel studs, so I'll be cruising through your vids for any tips I don't already know. Already looking to reframe the shower to best accommodate the clients preferred tile. Fun Fun Fun!

NOW, to cutting 1/2 copper, converting top pex, raising the shower/bath spout up ~4-inches, tub, tile and (crossing fingers it all goes as planned.

I am using a Moen system very similar but unfortunately I have the bath spout that screws on and the length of the copper needs to be just right, which you talked about, ugh. Very good info you provided, thanks! It will help me a lot in gauging the depth of the Moen valve. As you mentioned, the instructions are vague in this area. It's more art than craft at that point. Wish me luck!
