To be fair he played shazam how he should be played it was the writers fault for making Billy too mature Billy should've been just like shazam but they have two different personalities that didn't make sense to me

it is like a form of whiplash seeing him go between billy & shazam... poor creative choices but pretty standard for the DCEU.

Im not gonna blame the actor, blame the direction .
The director should've done more, than just be glad he got paid.
Also, there was balance between comedy and drama. Some of The good moments in the movie, was when he talked to the foster mom, the wizard, and freddy. If shazam was super edgy for no reason, like the snyderverse, people would still complain.

Not the first time or the last a kid acts more mature than an adult - in more ways than one. I loved the first movie, the dynamics between characters was awesome, the backstory of Billy got me in the emotions while watching each time before the sequel as it hit hard due to fears I struggled with as a kid about the possibility of getting lost or feeling neglected by family. I would sing songs people made about it for confidence, then the sequel came out and stuff sort of fell apart a bunch. I hope the next Shazam goes awesome, despite some other people's opinion I believe the character has a lot of potential. 💯 (Also, I used to love Levi in the show Chuck, no disrespect to the actors of Shazam, just I felt it wasn't handled right)

They have a character with so much charisma and possibilities to reach out to every audience, children and adults alike, and they dont know what to do with it.

Take that scene where the boy jumps from the rooftop of a building, says shazam in middle air and storms to action. When he gets there, he hides in fear of the villain. You don't do that to a main hero character. (Writers fault of course).
