Step Into The World Of A Teen Ballerina And Discover The Sacrifices They Have To Make Everyday
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Being a teen can be difficult on it’s own. Being a teen ballerina is a whole other ball game of issues that a young aspiring dancer has to deal with. From early mornings and late nights to hours of training and rehearsals it can be overwhelming. And that’s not including high school and the constant workload of essays, school projects and homework. Sadly, most teen ballerinas are balancing a heavy schedule that leaves little time for a social life. To top it all off they deal with the sad truths of body insecurities that come with the pressures to be slim and perfect. A teen dancer can be really hard on themselves for not having the ideal dancer's body that can lead to depression and even more serious issues. There may be a lot of struggles for a teen dancer, however there are also some wonderful advantages to training as a ballerina. From learning to become responsible, to creating a comradery amongst other dancers where they make friends for life. Not to mention added bonuses for some girls who create fame with their skills and often become role models to other young aspiring dancers.

What do you think? Do you empathize with these teens’ grueling training schedules? Is it really that tough or are they like any other teen dealing with the same insecurities as the rest of us? Misleading title and sensationlised content. In a professional ballet school you are not over worked. Sure, hard work is involved and you have to be dedicated and disciplined but in a professional ballet school setting the dancers overall health, including rest and time management, fun, diet and mental health are factored in as part of their education and development. You're mixing up facts here. For kids who dance at regional dance schools who do more than one discipline, plus competitions, yes their schedules can get out of hand but not all dance schools are like that.

This isn’t the case for a lot of teen dancers. Yes, in a lot of schools it is like this, but teen dancers can go to school. This is over dramatized, and is only portraying teen dancers who are famous or in the media spotlight.

Ballet isn’t for a parent to choose, it isn’t about your body shape. It’s about what your interested in, what you will enjoy for the next few years. *But no parent will understand that*

Well, it might look bad to an outside person, but dancing is my absolute passion, and I would sacrifice a lot for it. Ballet is an incredible thing and I don’t know what I would do if it didn’t exist <3

I’m only 1 minute into the video and 1st of all: what about the male dancers? 2nd of all this is only true for dancers who are certain that they want to dance for the rest of there lives do nothing else and for who take it seriously, 3rd of all most ballerinas who train that much are homeschooled, 4th of all all of the information you’ve gotten is clearly seen from a tv series ONLY ABOUT dancers who go to ABT (American Ballet Theater) at a younger age than average. Please get your facts straight because the ballet world is not just about girls and women without boys and men there wouldn’t even be such a thing as ballet. So please do your research correctly and not just from YouTube. Trust me I know.

"Most dancers have to also deal with an ever changing teenage body" yes. Like all teens, we go through puberty too.
Honestly, this video is much too dramatized. You make it sound like we're abused or something. Most of our schedules aren't from 5:00 to 11:00, that doesn't leave nearly enough time to get the amount of rest needed. Sure there's little social life, but most of us would not rather be doing anything else. There's sacrifice, but it's the most incredible and rewarding experience.

My cousin goes to the RAB (in London). She’s never been overworked. She’s made so many friends! Also, she has a pretty good social life, if she wanted to, she could go to parties and proms, but she doesn’t want to. Of course it’s different for everyone though

I’m a teen ballet dancer and I’m not famous, and neither are any of my friends who are dancers. We aren’t all famous or even on social media. There are many dancers around the world who will go in to be professionals but never be famous. Just saying. Love all the dancers in this vid! Could’ve used a little more correct information though.

I can tell you another struggle of ballerinas: getting injured! I have Achilles tentantitis, knee braces cause my knees are messed up, I just rolled over on my foot so now that’s super swollen, and I have virtual dance class in 15 minutes

Im a ballerina too and I have to say my schedule is pretty intense and I’m only 10. It’s really hard on you and I stay up so late just stretching and practicing.

I possitively LOVE that you're using Strictly Ballet quotes, because that is what really inspired me

I am 12 turning 13 very soon and I've been dancing since I was 3. A lot of my classmates are already on pointe and during COVID-19 I have been practising non-stop to reach my goal :)
