Definitely give Michael some love for not only produced the song but adding his background voice along with Martha Wash on the tune.

Rebbie was fire, she was talented, beautiful, and she had other songs too that i loved...💟
I'm so glad Michael produced, wrote and backed his big sis.!
I still find myself trying to dance and emulate her grace, she's absolutely beautiful and so is her voice.

Whew that jam never gets old, Rebbie put it down on this track, especially with those background vocals by Michael himself and the legendary Martha Wash of The Weather Girls. You should definitely check out more of Martha’s amazing vocals with the sing “Just Us” with Izora Rhodes who was the other half of Two Tons O’Fun who later changed their name to The Weather Girls, famous for “It’s Raining Men”. They also were the backup ladies for the first real singer who performed in drag, Sylvester . You should check out Rebbie’s other video”Yours Faithfully “.

***REBBIE JACKSON TRIVIA TIME!!!*** ...let's crawl thru the bathroom

- ...this was from Rebbie's Album from 1984...YES, Michael wrote it...and, on the 45(!) picture sleeve, he dedicated the Song to his, 'Mannequin

- ...LaToya & Janet had Albums in 1984 ("Heart Don't Lie & "Dream Street"), but they were kept more in a 'euro Bubble Gum Pop' vibe...Rebbie's Album was for the 'grown Folk', and "Centipede" showed it, with it's implications, to Lovers feeling like lusty insects, STINGIN' each other....

- ..."Centipede" DID have ad-libs by Martha Wash...but, she wasn't credited on the ORIGINAL LP; and, Rebbie actually covered Prince's "I Feel For You" and it was slated as the (3rd) single...but Chaka Khan released her version FIRST, Sept. 1984...it was never released (as a single)....

-... Kids, even THEN, Sept. 1984, we thought the Video was CHEEEEZE-EEE!! ....tacky, tacky!! ...It was a bad 'one two punch' of this Video, & Donna Summer's "Supernatural Love"...PHEW!

- ...The tune peaked at #23 Pop, #4 R&B Nov. 1984, , s, o let's go back- WAY back- back into time...

10. Off And On Love - Champaign
9. Jungle Love - The Time
8. Swept Away - Diana Ross
7. Better Be Good To Me - Tina Turner
6. Solid - Ashford & Simpson
5. Purple Rain - Prince & The Revolution

There’s not much on Wikipedia about this song. My guess is it was inspired by the video game Centipede that came out a couple years before.

Empress your reaction was so fun! I had a feeling you had heard this one before considering your love of Michael. You can definitely hear his vocals come through clearly in the chorus. I had no idea Martha Wash was doing those runs at the end! Crazy how many songs she provided vocals for over the years.

Everything from the song to the video look to Rebbie's dress is so iconic. She always said her music career was more for her to have fun and she wasn't as into it as her family, but she had true star quality, being a star was in her blood. I wish she had had a bigger career than she did, it was in her.

MJ wrote it and it sounds just like him. Like something he would have written for Miss Ross. 🔥🔥 What's up with the lighting/electricity 🔌 coming from her hands🤣. Martha Wash is a whole nother story.
