A recent article written by a research team in India revealed that night-time surface temperatures seemed to decline significantly on the near side of the Moon in early 2020.

As many people on the planet were in lockdown, there was an “anomalous decrease” of radiation being emitted from Earth, which resulted in less pollution and heat being released by our planet.

The scientists said the “study shows that the Moon has possibly experienced the effect of [the] COVID-19 lockdown, visualised as an anomalous decrease in lunar night-time surface temperatures during that period”.

According to Futurism, the results “could allow scientists to use the lunar surface as the perfect testing ground to study the effects of climate change occurring back on Earth.”
