Function 3d printing is what most say needs to happen with that 3d printed on your desk. What if you make kitchen gadgets with it? Does it matter if the filament is FDA approved or not?

I would say that the only downside to The Cube™ is that you can't actually scoop out of the container itself. It's much faster with a traditional cup to take one big scoop out of the sugar container than filling it one spoonful at a time.

Loved this thing, but it was a little too big to fit in my drawer so I scaled it 62% now it fits perfect!!!

Concept design is cool, but impractical. Way faster to scoop ingredients than have to move them with a spoon.

Big workaround for Food safety;
Coat the whole thing in a thin layer of epoxy, it'll smooth the layer lines and epoxy seals in any stuff that might be in the print, also protects from acidic damage

I like the idea, but its not that convenient because you can't really scoop with a giant cube like that

Um.. But measuring cups stack into eachother.. Take up less space than that..

With the smaller scoops you can put them straight into the sugar rather than using a separate spoon to transfer into the cube.

"Do you want ants?" Love it, huge Archer fan, love it.

I printed that. It's a cool novelty and artsy but one can get nested cups that take up less room. Plus it is kinda awkward to work with.

I have a hint for you. Parchment paper to transfer sugar. I grind pepper with a drill onto paper then pore it through a small hole on the shaker. Works great!

For a fridge that is jam packed with items, 3d print food containers that can fit in spaces and gaps available

Can you do a follow up video on food safe coatings or epoxies for post processing prints?

1:21 Thank you for clarifying that it's a spoon. I had no idea what it was.

Love your channel Sir! This is a great print. I Read most comments and issues on this one, here are the suggestions for the peanut gallery.
1. Coat it with food safe epoxy, layer lines issue solved.
2. The precision is a non issue. Anyone who actually cooks knows no recipe depends on that level of accuracy, if they even measure at all for anything less than large quantities.
3. I believe this is aimed at the home user, not professional chefs, so the efficiency of scooping is a non issue for most.
4. Print it in a color you love and make it an accessory in your kitchen, then you don't have to worry about it fitting in a drawer.
Hope this helps, happy printing!

Is there ways of sealing prints so that food can't seep into the layer lines?

First useful kitchen print I've done is a shaker lid for my spice jars. Worked out pretty well, just pops right on.

I personally think it’s pretty useful because I used to have measuring spoons but I always lose them
and also my glass measuring cup don’t even have 1/3 cup measurement but the cube does and it has few of the measurements of the spoons!!! So therefore, I’m glad I got this from a white elephant!

I really like this idea, but I'm pretty leery about using FDM prints for food/water or bathroom supplies like toothbrush holders, regardless of whether they're food-safe filament and come out of a stainless steel nozzle. The problem for me is that FDM printing produces objects with very high surface area compared to injection molding, which makes it hard to remove residue, and gives ample space for moisture, bacteria, and fungi to hang out.

This could probably be mitigated by using PETG and vapor-smoothing it with MEK, but I haven't come across any PETs that can stand up to a dishwasher. If anyone has a suggestion in that niche, I'd be interested.

Edit: As an addendum, don't ever use ABS for anything contacting food, especially warm food. It can be vapor-smoothed with acetone to take care of the porosity, but it can leech off acrylonitrile, which is an irritant, and a class 2B carcinogen (possibly carcinogenic).

Not to say you didn't cover that well enough in the video, but I feel it bears repeating.

I printed this a couple of days ago. Like another poster said, it was hard to pour out of the cube, and liquids leaked! It’s good for dry measures though for sure.

What if you put it through an acetone bath or glaze it like pottery? To get rid of or diminish the layer lines. I think that would be ideal. That way you truly only need that one measuring cup instead of multiple ones for wet and dry ingredients.
