Honestly though, just get a Standard Poodle and give it a teddybear cut if that’s the look you’re going for. “Doodles” are truly unpredictable when it comes to their coats/appearance, and it’s not uncommon people end up getting a doodle that sheds and/or doesn’t have the “cute” teddybear look about them.

My family got two “Golden, Golden Doodles” meaning their dad was a golden retriever and their mom was a golden doodle. We got them about 9 years ago thinking they would be hypoallergenic and not shed as much, but boy were we wrong… They shed a lot, however we still love them, and they are amazing and wonderful pets!

Most of the crosses are cute (some less cute as adults), but the grooming requirements are so intensive. My friend pays so much at the groomers every six weeks for her two doodles. I've had 3 purebred Goldens (English style, which have shorter coats). Though they shed and blow coat twice a year, I do all the grooming myself and it's a breeze with a wash & wear coat. As far as hair cuts, I just tidy up her paws and ears - takes around 5 minutes. People don't realize how much brushing, grooming and trimming doodles involve.

Also do not forget to brush them regularly, and get them used to grooming in general which is very important with a coat that needs to be professionally done from time to time.

Yeah and a lot of those traits can be found in a standalone poodle, plus the allergy friendly thing for doodles isn’t guaranteed, better off getting a poodle if you want a hypoallergenic dog with those traits instead of a doodle, that’s what my parents did and we love our poodles

I'm so glad you said low shedding. So many people believe they don't shed at all but as a dog groomer I can tell you that they most certainly do shed.

Before you get a golden doodle you have to realize you HAVE to brush them every day for them not to get matted they may not look very matted(depending on how curly your dogs hair is) but there undercoat can get matted if not brushed properly, I recommend atleast 3-4 times a week

I have two! One looks like golden retriever and the other like the poodle. The one that looks like the golden retriever ALOT! Even with brushing him every day! The one that looks like the poodle doesn't shed, but matt's easily! They both like to run and are very attached to me and extremely playful!
