ANTI-LAG | Do You Have The BEST Boost Response? [TECH NUGGET]

preview_player
Показать описание
Antilag is already a well proven option to improve boost response on turbocharged engines, but Turbosmart have a new way to implement it via their Anti-lag valve. Traditionally antilag is operated via the throttle body, where as Turbosmarts ALS valve does things a little differently as explained by Andre at the 2018 Performance Racing Industry trade show.

I want to see a webinar of installing and setting this bad boy up!

Its awesome how much info you pack into such short videos.
Your channel is great. Keep up the good work my friend.

I Made A Baby Version Of This On My Jeep. Used A BOV Valve And An Exhaust Check Valve. I'm Only Running 7-8PSI On My 5.7 Hemi. The Wind Band Is Definitely Showing The Air In The Exhasut When I Let Off. All That's Left Is To Tune It And Make It Dump Fuel Momentarily When I Let Off To See If It's Enough To Have An Explosion Occur lol

So i redisigned this system, to use a gas turbine, to spool a supercharger, leading to a carberateur.

The exhaust, spins the turbine, in a sleeve, with an intake, inside the blower,

The sleeve, houses a shaft, which translates exhaust pressure to mechanical energy, while also using a turbine to maintain high pressure in the system, through the super, assisting its ram air abilities.

Thr super, otherwise works normal, just has a turbine, instead of a belt, and an extra intake.

The anti lag, is a gasifier, with 2 valves, one leads to exhaust pipes, and blows off upon more throttle applied, the other, vents into the intakes, between the turbo and super, which then converge, after the carberateur, and before piston compression occours, while gas is applied, and when the anti lag is engaged, which keeps the turbo and super spooled, and at high compression, as brakes are applied, or throttle isn't

So that when acceleration occours, the old gas vents off, and the whole compression system, is already up to working speed/pressure.

I really wanna see one of these Installed, I understand the concept but I need to see a visual!

beast like that idea would be nice to see the effects of it

So, this would work without having to kick the throttle open...correct? But what about duration.. can it still pump air for several seconds when you're off throttle similar to traditional anti lag?

In future would you be able to show us one fully installed?

this technology is as old as turbos group b rally. audi its own version, called "umluft" (air recirculation). the method of injecting air from the compressor into the exhaust manifold has been used on all wrc cars since the group a era.
somehow, it hasn't expanded its way to mainstream, probably because of short turbo lifespan and lack of components. there are two small companies that sell this kind of systems, brewed motorsports and trial engineering.
i have a couple questions regarding this valve in particular:
- is it also necessary to run a regular wastegate?
- how is boost pressure controlled?
- does this eliminate the need for a bov?
- would it be possible to have both a wastegate & bov and this valve installed and switch between systems depending on applications? (street and race)

Do you think because you're still running fuel through the engine you will get additional cooling while off the throttle?

See what I would do to keep engine braking better, I would set the bypass als system to turn on only below a certain speed like 20mph. It is not as crucial in faster corners because you have more momentum.

If adding this valve to an evo 9 exhaust manifold but without changing anything to car's ecu(for additional fuel etc) will be any noticeable gains between gear changing just only from this amount of "fresh" air? Thanks in advance for any answer

So the gate will run off the pressure no electronics needed except for cutting ignition?

How do you actually ignite the fuel in the manifold with the exhaust valve shut?

Kind of like prodrive's antilag rocket system (Y)

Sort of like Toyota Team Europe's anti-lag.

Did I understand correctly? So this gives 'fresh' air (from cold part of turbine) into exhaust, and then we add fuel so combustion can occur?

This is like - crazy powerful anti-lag! I like how this refine 'standard' anti-lag.

So I'm not knocking Turbosmart. I love their products and run them on multiple cars of mine. Thing is this isn't a totally new idea like so many people make it out to be. Audi ran umluft, which translates to circulating air, in the group b cars which ran a modified wastegate that routed boost air into the ports of the exhaust manifold. This with some tuning yielded the same result.

I feel like this will ruin my sick roaving idle points. But I want cold air anti lag so badly.
