Nobody should be installing this version of steamOS, it's very old and outdated. The new SteamOS 3.0 isn't officially available yet, but there are alternatives like HoloOS or ChimeraOS.

This is steam os 1.0 the original version that failed.

The new steamOS 3.0 which is based off arch Linux isn't available yet for official download

There is however holoOS which is better than this version he installed but i still don't recommend it as it's just a Jerry riged steamdeck version of steamOS 3.0
It's not the full fat steamOS 3.0 and it even has all the limiting factors of the steamdeck version and the handheld ui

Bro the installer file isn't same now as it shows on yours. It is in img.b2z format and doesn't have any setup contents 😢😢 or didn't work on my pc it. I'm tired of trying so much😢😢 to make bootable pendrive or just copying the img

I've been debating on turning one of my computers into a Steam Machine anyway personally my so called modern computer to avoid conflict with Steam I'm gonna have to attempt this right now I'm lucky I got a laptop to experiment off of. If anyone is worried about the future of Microsoft and wanting to future proof their PC I would highly recommend having enough memory on your computer to dual boot an Operating System.

Oddly from experience Linux or SteamOS runs better on low end hardware for gaming but....Newer Hardware is still better with Windows when it comes to gaming.
