People who say "Gaming is hard on Linux" haven't tried proton. I don't mean to diminish the difficulty; I do most of my gaming with GOG games on Lutris, and it's fine, I'd say 80%-90% are basically out of the box, but Steam Deck and Steam OS are seriously on another level. The future of Linux Gaming is here. It really is a paradigm shift.

"live sound change, thats just crazy" the most relatable moment of awe for a linux user ever 😂

Ujust is not the main package maintainer. Bazzite uses rpm-ostree, flatpaks and homebrew as package managers. Ujust is a shortcut utility for common tasks. Ptyis terminal used to be called prompt terminal.

Bazzite transformed my Legion Go handheld into a giant Steam Deck. Love it.

I switched from windows 10 to PopOS around Christmas time. Installed it on a separate SSD, to keep the windows 10 install just in case I needed it....I've not gone back to windows. PopOS has done everything I've needed, emulation works very well, basic desktops tasks are easy, and modern gaming works very well, I've not had a single problem. Good bye Microsoft.

Great to see Bazzite getting the love it deserves. Been daily driving it on my Thinkpad z13, and it’s fantastic not only as a gaming-centric device, but also a great Fedora GNOME desktop, so use as a main box isn’t out of the question. If you end up wiping your Steam Deck proper and using Bazzite, would love to see a compare/contrast after some use.

I've been rocking Bazzite for a few days on my Steam Deck and my laptop, primarily relying on an Arch Distrobox for stuff that doesn't have to touch the base system. Gaming is painless and everything is rock solid.

typo in title just funny, we know that he intended "steam" but stream is good too

This Bazzite content is so needed. It's more or less my first linux distro as a PC gamer and someone who uses office software. The transition has been mostly seamless but the community could definitely benefit from a comprehensive guide to gaming on Bazzite or linux more generally. Like from initial set up, automounting drives and making new steam libraries(unexpectedly tricky), to things like hardware tips like what components work well with linux or cpu/gpu/ram tuning or setting up an NVME raid game drive. An easier onboarding could really help open up the pipeline of PC gamers who are getting off windows 10 and don't necessarily appreciate windows 11.

The pace of improvement in the last year or two on fully integrated Linux gaming experiences has been a sight to behold

Has a person who uses nobara on my home theater pc. Linux gaming is pretty much perfect. HDR support is almost perfect, for movies Dolby Atmos support is amazing (does require tinkering with kodi or mpv). The only obviously downside is anti cheat, but to be honest I'm not playing FPS on my home theater PC, so as long as I can play online coop games it's just perfect.

I use Bazzite as my daily driver on a Nvidia PC, even though nvidia version doesn't support Game Mode. It's still an awesome, very stable and minimal setup distribution that I would wholeheartedly recommend to everyone, especially people new to Linux.

Great Video Chris! Probably the best OOTB experience. Got the Desktop Version and the Deck Version for my Ally!

Atomic/Immutable Systems are crazy reliable and still powerful in the hands of a pro, but safe for the noob. As the Distrobox Dev said: immutable distros are for the casuals and devs. I truly belive this is the future! And the "normal" distros wont go away... For the Hobbyist.

Bazzite is really, reeeally nice. I generally stick to arch forks but bazzite hits that nice out of the box experience with being able to do whatever you want.

I would like to see a video of BazziteOS running on other handheld PCs like the ROG Ally and the Lenovo Legion GO.

I was having issues with sound when I first set up my TV to my desktop PC, it would default to another source every single time but after messing around with the sound settings in desktop mode and turning off that sound source that I never used, it would default to the TV every time

This whole thing really makes me wish for a steam controller 2 based off the steam deck controls

you should cover universal blue and what they're doing as well with fedora atomic

the ability to rebase to other OCI images is just nuts, nvidia drivers have never been easier to deal with, and the ability to switch desktop environments with one command, crazy stuff

thank you for shining a light on Bazzite! I have been using it on an OG steam machine, with an nvidia card and ever with all of those issues.... it is still pretty darn good. works way better than chimeraOS did for me. when i get enough spare parts to build a proper pc (with an AMD vid card), i'll definitely run bazzite on it.
