Goodness me! I remember listening to this when I was a boy, and I’m nearly eighty now. No TV in those days, but when we sat in front of the fire as a family and listened to this on the wireless we could see it all in our mind’s eye.

The scripts and the radio acting are of the time and they are still superior to American radio sci-fi of the 1950s. I grew up loving them and still do.

I never tire of listening to all three series of Journey Into Space. I was a kid back in the fifties when they were broadcast and it has been often said that the streets would clear of kids when Journey Into Space was on the radio. And they did.

Truly an adventure. One of the best aspects of this series is that it's so very British.

I recall listening to the original 30 min. episodes of this broadcast series every Saturday night on BBC radio in Dublin as a young boy in the early ‘50s.

thanks for taking the time to edit this into one continuous episode, it really makes it a better listen. I generally revisit this great old series every few years, always a pleasure.

Love this show. So unique. It's interesting to hear of what people thought space travel would be like and what they thought was out there before we'd ever put vehicles of any kind up in space. In that way, it's very much a product of its time. But still fabulous.

David Jacobs voices always amused me.
However his voice for Whitaker was suitably erie from the start.

Considering its age it is truly enjoyable. Dont forget David Jacobs did many of the voices too. The main point of the actors is that they had different accents which made it easy to know who was speaking. Nowadays it's very difficult to follow plots with more than a few ppl

Thank you for uploading these! I'm on my annual relisten of all of them. It's strange but your version has bits that my downloaded one (either from the cd or possibly the actual cassette tapes) doesn't have! Are there two versions?

For example, when they get Jet and Mitch in from the fog, there's a conversation between Rogers and Lemmy that I've never heard before. My version, doc gets them in and Lemmy says, how are they doc? No rogers at all. There's been various points where I've thought it was slightly different.

This is amazing to me as I must have listened to my version about fifty times now.

Anyone out there remember the comedian Duo of Abbott and Costello. ?

Now the character Lenny with the other captain of the ship.
Are you following me so far ? Well thinking back of that fantastic Duo being. :
-- Abbott and,
Costello they were from the 1940s the old black and white movies.. Now,
Costello was the short plumpy man that was always afraid of everything... Abbott was the sensible not afraid of anything type of man..

So listening to Lenny afraid of meeting the aliens that's exactly Costello all over again...
That's if you ever watched an old Abbott and Costello movies, they were very very funny. I guess that's the way he wrote the script being a little afraid but having comedy tied into it !
