I-Cord Cast On Tutorial | Purl Soho

An I-Cord is a neat and tidy way to control and define an edge, like for a hem or neckline. Often, people tend to this detail when all the knitting is done by adding an Attached I-Cord, but an I-Cord Cast On gets the fussy work out of the way right at the beginning of the project... Nice video, wish there was more explanation as to why it's finished with k2 tog twice?- the instructions I have are quite different and I wonder what the different techniques achieve - ie, lifting the 2nd stitch, rather than KFB on 1st, and the purl for first rather than Knit. Also

My first 4 stitches are really tall, I tried to make sure I was tightening these stitches at the very beginning but they seem to have grown. A very easy video to follow. Thanks!

This is awesome. If I am knitting a stockinette stitch baby blanket and want to continue an I cord finish on each end (knit as I go) should I skip the k2tog and carry those stitches for the edge? And what to do on the other end? Thanks, this was super helpful.

Why slip the stitches back to the left needle instead of just sliding all of them to the right end of the right needle that they are already on?
