Step-by-step instructions on knitting the i-cord cast-on with two different variations. Both are super easy to knit

The i-cord cast-on is a super fun way to start your knitting with a well-rounded edge. It's actually quite easy to knit. Basically, you just have to knit an i-cord and pick up stitches from the edge - and that's already it. You can also knit it in one go but typically that messed up your gauge and creates elongated stitches. So it's not a technique for every project.

Thank you. The integrated I cord is ingenious!

THANK YOU! This is so much easier to understand. I have made i-cords, so this is a natural extension of that process! I appreciate it.

I like the first method. It makes a nicer looking piece of fabric and the i-cord is more obviously there.

Crazy but I’m starting a brioche scarf which has a provisional cast on, followed by an I-cord edge, before the actual brioche set up, 😅, I’ve watched all three technique videos by you and comparing to the written instructions I think it’s coming clear, thank you

Thank you, Norman!! I saw a pattern recently using an i-cord cast on, so your tutorial was perfect in timing and instruction!

I like the first method much better, casting on and knitting the i-cord on the larger needle, but thanks for showing many options.

Welp, I think you've spoiled me from watching any other knitters on YouTube. I cringe watching a few others, and want to send them here to fine-tune their skills. But who am I? I'm a newbie, just learning the craft, so .... I'll just keep watching and honing my skills. Thanks for being so precise in your lessons. It caters to the autistic brain. Much appreciated.

Hi Norman! I hope this hasn't been asked before. Can you show a purl I-cord cast on, please, in a video? I've learned the cast-off in purl, but just can't wrap my head around written directions from AI, which seems to be the only directions offered....I really like the textured look of the purled I-cord cast off and would love to have my start on a rectangular shawl match the end. Thanks for considering, and as always, you are my go-to for learning, because of your thorough and calm way of demonstrating, as well as where I direct anyone wanting to learn this or that❤

I just re-watched your i-cord bind off video and both of these are so very helpful! I don’t remember you talking about needle size in the bind off video, but do you recommend going up a needle size when doing an i-cord bind off as well? I’m thinking about adding one to the cuff of a color work tee I am making currently.

Thanks for your easy understanably video, it's helped me a lot. But to avoid that the fabric doesn't flare, would it help to do one "normal" i-cord stitch between every third/four "doublestich" in the same way as you recommended in the first alternative? I will try that for the next projekt I will use to start with a i-cord row :)
