As someone who has resided in Australia all my life, I notice that when you pronounce the word it sounds more like 'iiand', even though you pronounce each letter correctly 'aah' 'nn' 'd'. In Australia (and I believe also in Britain) we pronounce the word as you would each letter - i.e. 'aand'. Always wondered why in American english they add that 'i' sound at the beginning, I find it hard to say. :)

its very hard to tell the differrence in whole sentences. "And" sounds more like ehahn-D and "end" just ehnd.

I know exactly where this question comes from. Uncle Craig Phonics book two. There is listening exercise to decide whether it is sound short E or not. Both of the words are there and the speaker says both of them exactly the same way. Only slight difference that is not audible without a good audio equipment. Not possible to distinguish for kids. I could only say that letter A in the word AND sounds more like shorter version of long vowel A

thank you for the video. sometimes in oral speech I hear americans say "and" like "end" in sentences such as "I went to the store and bought milk". they would pronounce "and" like "end", did i hear it wrong? thanks
