There's a difference between new adaptation and "modern" adaptation. They couldn't even bother to rename the lost boys to lost kids or something. And that's just the tip of the iceberg...

The movie is awful, but not for the reasons Critical Drinker, Midnight's Edge, Nerdrotic, Geeks and Gamers, etc. claim. It's awful because it's shallow, one-dimensional, focuses far too much on optics over substance. Why even do it if it's just going to be empty drivel? I get wanting to do updated adaptations, but too often everything that made the originals so beloved is stripped away and what's left is pointless.
