8BitDo GBros or Nyko Retro Controller Adapter? | Comparison Review

There are plenty of ways to play your GameCube controller on the Nintendo Switch. There are a few first-party options and many third-party options. In this video, I am going to compare two third-party single controller adapters and let you know which one you should pick up.

With the GBros. adapter you can switch between GameCube mode and Switch Pro mode by pressing L+R+A+B+Start; it will swap ZR, ZL, R and L

3:22 With the exception of battery corrosion, I think the fact that has batteries is a plus only because it increases the longevity of the item years down the road and You don't have to be a tech wizard to open it up to change out a battery.

Hey there, the main reason I want the gbros is actually because of the wii controller port! I love the snes controller so much, and this allows me to use my snes mini controller on switch and pc. That’s actually such a huge game changer for me, the snes controller is perfect for mega man in my opinion. The fact that it doubles as a gamecube controller solution is just the cherry on top. I’d also like to add that the switch will recognize it as a gamecube controller if you hold down a specific button combination. It just isn’t the default I guess so using it for the wii port is easier.

Do you have problems when trying using a wavebird controller with the 8bitdo Gbros adapter in windows 10? I just bought a wavebird, and though the adapter works perfectly fine with wired controllers, when I connect the wavebird receiver the blue light turns blinking red, and some button presses are not registered and/or deadzone is in wrong place.

Do you think it's the WB receiver problem, or the adapter does not fully support it?

I'm using an extension cable to connect it, and it works perfectly fine with the wired controller. It is also updated to the latest version.

The 8bitdo has firmware updates, they fixed the issue of it not being recognised as a gamecube controller

Just to say that if you get a GameCube controller extension cable then you can use the Wavebird fine in the 8bitdo adapter.

Another interesting - though slightly pointless - feature is that you can plug the 8bitdo SNES mini controller receiver into the 8bitdo adaptor and use it as a wireless SNES pad. It may need a NES/SNES mini/wii controller adaptor though to fit.

The nyko adapter is not available in europe unless i pay an upsertingly amount of shipping fees, sometimes i just really hate online shopping.

4:59 it's a decent adapter but the controller port for the GameCube controllers kinda stiff and gets stuck sometimes

REMINDER anyone reading this please update the g bros adapter because some gamecube controllers or wii controller will have issues without the update and it reduces lag

I have the 4 port version of the NYKO adapter that I got for my birthday! It works amazingly, but for some reason, this verson doesn't work on Dolphin Emulator unlike the official which pisses me off, and besides smash, it doesn't rumble! I might get the 8bitdo adapter also for non smash bros use (and portable mode)

Try the Nyko with the wavebird. Try the 8bitdo Gbros wired to switch with and c to a usb adapter. Try it all with PC Dolphin. Compare them to Official Gamecube Adapter. That would be good research

Exactly what I needed, I almost bought the 8bitdo thinking my wavebird adapter would fit, jus to clarify though, the wavebird adapter fits and works with the nyko one ?

i have been using my gbros adapter off a usb power bank no need for AAs
