Make Your Gamecube And SNES Controller Wireless For Nintendo Switch

A new accessory has released that will turn your wired Gamecube controller into a wireless controller that can be used from anywhere in the room. This adapter from 8BitDo will also work with controllers such as the SNES Classic controller using the expansion port on the other side. This is a really cool accessory to go along with Smash Bros or even the NES Online library if you want to play from across the room and not have to worry about wires.

Just me personally, I love things using removable batteries. It's sooo much easier to get replacement years down the road. This is just my opinion though.

I don't know why people complain about AA batteries. High capacity rechargeable AA batteries are dirt cheap on Amazon and you never have to worry about tracking down a new battery pack 10+ years down the line. Honestly I wish Sony and Nintendo went with AA like Microsoft does.

Sorry for the late comment - I have one and I love using the SNES Classic controllers on it for any of the retro-style indies I tend to enjoy.
As a note, it will run off the Switch dock through the USB cable. Also, when it's plugged in, it does not need batteries AND it will wake the system with the red 'home' button. You just need to set the Switch to accept wired pro controllers in settings.
I just put it on an extra-long USB cable like a controller adapter. Also works well with the Wii Classic controllers, which have the good D-Pad and the all-important Home button. It's all about the D-Pad.

With the latest firmware installed, hitting L+R+B+A+Start altogether will toggle between the GCN and Switch Pro controller profiles. Will save a trip to the options menu to adjust controller button mapping.

I'm interested in somebody doing some measured latency test on these. Just from my experience, it's feels acceptable. But I'd like to see hard numbers.

3:36 I actually like that it doesn't have a built-in battery. I would prefer an easy way of replacing batteries. I can use my rechargeable AAs. I find it annoying that their controllers do come with built-in batteries. I know they can be replaced but not as easily as standard cell batteries.

Why not just use rechargeable AA batteries?

For those who believe in proprietary rechargeable batteries i'll cite you an example. I own a wireless Razer mouse.. it included a built in battery very similar to a phone battery. it's removable via a door which is handy problem is that only about 2 years after buying the mouse the battery swelled up and i needed a replacement. I thought no big deal I'll hit Razer up and order a new one. They could not provide the battery, the retailer could not provide the battery I could not find a battery online. So now it's permanently wired. If however it took a AA or even two I'd have no issue. Now if 8bitdo provided a built in battery would they do any better than Razer? Maybe, but probably not. inbuilt batteries severely limit the usable life of a product. So, no thanks.

8bitdo's controllers and adapters are amazing, so I trust this to be good too. I do hope they release their own gamecube style controller though.

I've found that while using the classic controllers if you press start and select at the same time it inputs zr and lr so you can exit the menu in the classic selection of games

I think I might want to pick one of these up or some other Gamecube adapter so I can use my old Gamecube controllers from 13 years ago. Also if you pair up this 8bitdo adapter with the OG Wavebird controller than that will give you super freedom.

I still prefer rechargeable AAs. No need to dissemble the thing when the batteries wont charge anymore, someday.

this adapter is dope...so since you can connect an SNES mini classic controler it means I can connect my older Wii U gamecube pads.

I had this pre-ordered until last week. Just figured I like the Switch Pro controller enough as is but it's pretty cool that it works so well.

Actually 8bitdo already has a firmware update for it that allows you to use the analogue shoulder buttons. That's what the micro usb is actually for. Seriously tho this is perfect for me.

This could be a pricey option for someone that doesn't own a GC controller, but if you do already, this is perfect for wireless. I own one and it's been my main choice for Smash so far. I've also played with my Switch Pro, and a wired PDP GC fightpad. This 8bitdo adapter is very comparable in responsiveness to those two. I have yet to try a PowerA wireless to compare that option...maybe i'll get around to buying one. But yeah, for $20 bucks this is a bargain. Even more so if you own SNES, NES, or Wii classic controllers for all of Switch's many platformer titles.

That board is so tiny it is pertfect for sticking inside a controller and turning it into a switch controller plus i have used this with a usb power bank so i didn't need to worry about AA batteries.
