Fire Emblem Three Houses | Verdant Wind | Finale: God-Shattering Star (Maddening)

Chapter 22: Fódlan's New Dawn
Battle: For the Freedom of Fódlan
Battle starts at: 6:40.

Welcome to the Verdant Wind Finale! This might be the easiest final mission in the game, especially if you go all out against the enemy - as you should!

Keep in mind that you can get rid of every slitherer by taking out Odesse as soon as possible, and that you have to defeat all the Ten Elites to null the effect of Nemesis's personal skill. Other than that, take on this map in any way you'd like.

Thanks for watching this run! The final one will be the other Black Eagles route, Silver Snow.

I'll take a break from the game for about a month, and then we'll start with the final playthrough, starting on Chapter 12 of the Black Eagles route.

This was my first FE game and I beat this route on casual about a year ago and came back and just finished maddening with Golden Deer (I just picked them because I always like bows and Claude had one). Excited to experience Blue Lions and Black Eagles for the first time on maddening as well!

6:40 The one song from this game that people wanted to be in Smash *didn’t* make it into Smash. I can understand why, though. In terms of final map themes, this only plays for one route, while the one they did choose played for two routes. However, understanding is not equal to acceptance, so knowing this doesn’t make those who really wanted this song any happier.

10:52 Thanks a ton for that, truly! You are correct in saying this is the best theme in the whole game.

11:19 I *still* haven’t found the original translation for this song! What language is this?!

17:09 (Imagining Dimitri as a Dark Knight) Ugh, that’d be the worst decision I’d ever make.

20:01 Huh?
20:14 The heck?!

21:52 Really sucks though. It’d be decent incentive to recruit every Hero Relic user from the other houses for this route.

24:40 I wasn’t paying attention to Raphael’s weapons, but if you had Silver Gauntlets+, you could’ve taken that unit out without relying on critical hits.

27:10 I’m kinda lost here. How did this even work? That was a ranged attack, meaning Quick Riposte shouldn’t have factored in that battle at all!

33:28 I had a unit with high resistance equipped with Pure Water *just* for this unit!

42:48 Why wasn’t this in the previous chapter?! Seriously, this is supposed to be an Agarthan weapon! At least then we’d be able to reforge it for the extra range!

44:43 Not Leonie…

55:38-58:47 And she didn’t even tell Byleth her real name…

1:06:35 And then they played Uno!

*My thoughts*

It’s only due to bias towards AM being my first route that VW is my _2nd_ favorite route. Had I chosen Golden Deer _before_ Blue Lions, this might’ve been my favorite route. This was only my first choice for Maddening due to Claude’s claim early on that teaching the Golden Deer house wouldn’t be as hard as the other two. With one of the best units available from the get-go, it’s not hard to think there’s some truth to Claude’s claim.

The fact that this route deals with solving mysteries more than character motivations gives it a unique feel from the other 3. It’s also neat to see Claude is the best adjusted former house leader out of the three, since one became mad with revenge and the other started a war. However, unlike Dimitri, Claude doesn’t have much of an arc. His character is dedicated more to solving mysteries and unifying the world than improving himself.

It does however feel like the other Golden Deer members don’t really contribute to the plot like the Blue Lions do. Save for Ingrid (Unless I’m forgetting something), every Blue Lion had a portion of the story dedicated to them; Dedue’s supposed death, Ashe’s adoptive father attacking the church, Sylvain’s & Mercedes’s brothers trying to kill them, Annette’s & Felix’s daddy issues, and Dimitri’s whole thing. Here though, it feels like they’re compensating for the Golden Deers’ lack of plot relevance with character charm. After all, there’s more scenes in the main story of them just hanging out rather than focusing on character. Lorenz gets the most, but only because he’s the most policial of the group. Lysithea also gets a little bit of focus when the Agarthans become known. Funny enough, Cyril gets more plot focused on him than the other Golden Deers, and even then it’s super vague!

All in all, this was a fun trip down memory lane. Get some rest. You’ll need it to avoid burn-out for what is mostly the exact same route.

Never played this game, never knew what it was before. I came here for 6:40 and GOSH it was worth it. Thanks for the dedication for this video

I beat this route for the first time recently, and I have to say that IMO the hardest part of the final battle is the first turn. In my experience, the first turn is terrifying, but if you can survive the first turn or two, then the map becomes way easier than Chapter 21 until fighting Nemesis, who isn't that bad unless you can't kill him in one turn.

Amazing final battle, easily my favorite of the four. It makes my personal choice of "canon" route Verdant Wind because it ties up the story the most cleanly, with TWSITD being properly defeated in gameplay, Nemesis appearing in his role as the overarching antagonist, and the minibosses that are doppelgangers of the protagonists' ancestors. And of course, the music... Not since Persona3 have I been as hyped up by a final boss theme.

I thought that the Ten Elites had conversations with their descendants like Riegan with Claude.

Great stuff as always! I love the Golden Deer route ending a little more than the others in this game bc ppl can acutally take on Nemesis himself.

As far as Maddening goes, this is my 2nd favorite endgame map. I really like the sense of urgency to take down the 10 Elites and Odesse, the set up, the MUSIC OMG THE MUSIC and the final boss. The Lamine 10 Elite is a pain in the ass, but I usually just Alert Stance+ + Retribution someone that can double attack to get her to equip Bolting then just go for the Brave Weapon kill.

That being said, I really hate that they lock the Arrow of Indra (sp?) to one of the chests there. Do you have any idea how much my Falcon Knight Marianne would love that lance, game??? Still, really fun map, really nice dialogue with Claude & Nemesis.

I see you’re taking a break, so enjoy! Silver Snow is my favorite route and I shall patiently wait for your playthough. If you like, I can give tips on builds for the final map on Maddening, as it’s a tad chaotic with enemy placement & skills.

This final chapter sounds pretty painful on paper. Nemesis aint’ no joke for someone with one health bar. But hey, better final boss map than SS which someone was the first of the two written and had… that boss. Kind of makes me think that somehow this should’ve been thee SS boss

Beat Golden deer maddening yesterday (No new game + features). It felt so incredibly rewarding (this was my first time attempting maddening btw). Thank you for these guides, they've really helped me a lot. I think I might do crimson flower next but with all the benefits of new game plus from my main save file haha! Or I might do engage maddening. In your opinion, is engage maddening that difficult? DLC is a completely different story but DLC aside, is it really that hard at all?
