Upon marching on Rome, Caesar took with him one out of his nine Legions: LEGIO XIII "Gemina" Legion. This is the full history of that Legion, and everything it went through before and after it's moment of fame...

I would greatly appreciate any support you would like to give this channel, as it will help me create more quality content for you in the future!

Correction:
What slipped my knowledge was that the final eagle of the teutoburg fallen legions was actually found several decades later, in 43 AD by Publius Gabinius. I apologize for this error.

Fun fact! I live in Alba Iulia (former Apulum) and I did my military service in the 136th Combat Engineer Batalion, stationed in the same town, and my batalion bears the honorary name Gemina, in rememberance of the Legio XIII Gemina. Thank you for this video!

Octavian: **raises new Legio X**
Antony: wait-
Octavian: **raises new Legio XIII**

"It's always the justified assassinations that don't work..." This is fairly accurate.
Great video!

I'd like to see the 14th Legion. I never get tired of hearing how it defeated Boudica.

Your style makes me feel like i'm watching História Civilis, but with a new and different spin. Can't properly describe it, It's like eating again your favorite childhood dish, but it was'nt made by your mom. Even though you've had tasted the thing before over and over again, somehow it feels fresh and novel.

I love it. Just stumbled upon your channel by accident and binged some of your videos. I'm subscribing and i'm also eager to see what comes next. Cheers!

As a historian I hate it when we do not know what happened with the legions like what happened with the 9th legion if I had 3 wishes I would wish to know what happened to these legions and all the unknowns of the history

Detailed focus on the legions is always facinating and the deep dive their history makes it all the more interesting. Thank you for this.

you should if possible do the XIIII or XIV gemina or XIV Martia Victrix (raised in 58BC)wiped out in 54BC in Belgium by Ambirox of the Eburones at it's fort of Autatuca. raised by Caesar agian in 54BC. malued by German raiders in 53BC. disgraced twice and shamed in spain in 49BC. it did not regain it's fame until the Iceni revolt of 60AD.
