The Philosophy of Panpsychism

Показать описание
Panpsychism is a fascinating and thought-provoking philosophy that asserts that everything in the universe has a mind or mind-like quality. This includes not only living things, but also inanimate objects, subatomic particles, and even the universe itself. Real or nonsense? I'll let you decide.

We will explore the history of panpsychism, from its ancient roots to its modern revival. We will also discuss the pros and cons of this theory, and examine its implications for our understanding of consciousness and the universe.

Great video well presented! Ancient Hindus have the like theme. The ultimate reality of all existence is Sat Chit Ananda or Existence Consciousness and Bliss/Joy. All animate or inanimate objects including a drop of water or mineral rock have their own level, dimension, way or aspect of awareness or consciousness, which may or may not be detected by us. Quantum entanglement is just one of such ways. Worth further exploring so we understand who or what we are and what purpose we have in this life in our current physical body form. ❤

4:50 So what we're doing here is creating a problem to solve an answer that we want. Consciousness is not made from this physical world, rather consciousness comes into this physical world. Why would anybody automatically assume that consciousness is derived from this world? The hubris is thick with this one.

THE THREE MAIN METAPHYSICAL TRENDS: Physicalism, Panpsychism and Idealism

Which one makes the most sense?

1. PHYSICALISM:
An Object exists first and is the basis for the formation of its Subject. Example: Brain or Body exists first and is the basis for the formation of its Soul.

2. PANPSYCHISM:
Any Object contains its Subject.
Example: Stone contains its Soul.

3. IDEALISM:
A Subject exists first and is the basis for the formation of its Object. Example: Soul exists first and is the basis for the formation of its Brain or Body.

If every object is conscious then dead body is also conscious. So dead body is not dead body at all.

Panpsychism can't even in principle be distinguished from emergentism, as far as I can tell. In the panpsychism view, simple things have a little bit of undetectable consciousness, and if you arrange these atoms of proto-consciousness in just the right, highly complex way, you get sort of full-blown consciousness. In an emergentist view, if you arrange unconscious matter in just the right, highly complex way, you get full, detectable consciousness. I don't see how you can distinguish one from the other, and panpsychism posits an extra phenomenon for which there is zero evidence.

(Good content - had to give up because of the nonsense music in the background. Maybe it's a Gen Z thing.)
