Fuji XT3, Auto ISO for video

Показать описание
Quick look at the auto ISO settings for video, specifially when shooting f-log.

Note: Was too lazy to get the tripod from upstairs so I just put the camera on the table and cropped in post for the intro piece to camera, hence presumably poor resolution.

I must say, I really love your content mate. I am relieved at the calm, egoless information.

Good work man!! Nice simple, clean test. The camera did pretty well, transition smoother than I would thought.

How does one set the display to show the ISO setting when set on auto? I prefer to see what my ISO setting is even when set in auto

In my case with XT3, I have tried to shoot sunset video with "Auto ISO + fixed Aperture + fixed Shutter speed" setting. The light change of the scene was very slow as the Sun goes down slowly but the steps of the ISO change was very noticeable and sudden which was really annoying. In your case it is smooth and usable unlike my case. So is it related to something in the settings? Is there any parameter which affect this behavior in the menu?

Unsure if you know, But, are we able to set like a limit of say 2500 iso to the Auto setting?

did you try to activate "interlock spot AE & focus area"?

Looks great. Thanks. Can you do a quick test (you don't need to make a video, just reply if you can) to make auto ISO and shutter? I know changing (auto) aperture isn't great on X-T3 for video, but shutter combined with ISO can help me. I know you the rule for shutter speed during the video, obviously, but different Canons on P saved me a number of times. So I don't mind higher shutter speeds if I get proper exposure in sudden situations.

How do you know the ISO that is applying in AUTO ISO video mode? I Can only find it in still mode.

Your channel is amazing. Really. Got so much useful information about the xt3 here no other channel talks about. I wonder if you could do a video on handheld video with the xt3 with lenses without ois. Also what gimbal do you use? I see some micro shakes in your footage even with gimbal. I winder what lenses to get for video for the xt3... i thought about the f2 primes but they are not stabilized

@lazy video guy - I'm still learning the ropes on my X-T3 and it seems that when you have auto-iso on there's no way to see the value it's using while shooting video?

Is it possible to set a limit for Auto iso in a video mode? Like 640-6400?

Hi Lazy Video Guy, thanks for your interesting video and sorry, I still don't understand one point! ...because similar to Unal Ozmen I have a phenomen with Auto-ISO. Aperture is fixed 3.6, shuttespeed is fixed 1/48, Iso dial (A) is set to Command. Front command dial is set to automatic, same is displayed on the screen. Now the phenomenon: In dark situations everything works fine, but when I go out into the light, everything is extremely white and overexposed. The Auto-Iso obviously doesn't readjust correctly. It looks so good in your video, do you have any idea where else I can look? Cheers Michael

Great work my friend, which lense you used?

It’s very smooth transition and puts my mind at rest to get an x-t3. All I’ve seen on YT is videos of footage doing the “stepping” exposure changes which looked bad, are you in manual movie mode but locked in the aperture and shutter then iso on Auto? Thanks.

Would love just to know the video settings you’re using across the board for run and gun stuff.

Can you please make a video about dynamic range. I find, that the Fuji crushes the shadows a lot of time. Can you please test the dr100, dr200, dr400(only iso 640 and above) + try to set shadows - + 2... and so one. Thanks :)

Good vid. I'm trying to get best possible results without needing post work. Use a variable ND with 30 fps / SS 60 / Auto ISO and it seems to work reasonably in outdoor scene with sun going in and out ... tons of light changes. Then tried setting ISO at 320 (Silent Shooting) and results not as good. Overall too dark as ND set to defeat strongest sunlight ... so shadows too dark. What are your thoughts on best practice use of ND for outdoor vids?
