I believe in the art of being a wonderful dinner guest.

Maybe you do too. In which case, let me give you a few quick test questions:

Do you pull out the chair for another guest, or simply take your seat?

Do you show interest in what other people have to say and give them the chance to shine, or endlessly talk about yourself?
Do you leave your phone on the table, or keep it on silent in your pocket?

Although dinner parties don’t have to require a performance on our part, they should be a seen as a chance to display us at our best. It should be a chance for us to unveil the most charming, most charismatic, most amicable sides of our personality.

And it should be a chance for us to show good manners.

If you’ve ever wondered how to be the guest that everyone wants to invite over again, in this weeks episode of LOVELife I give you 5 SIMPLE TIPS for blowing away your host and making a great impression on every guest at the table.

Awesome Matt! I am usually outspoken when it comes to being twith friends, however when out of my comfort zone I am flabergasted in the what to say or how to act. This goes back to with the have fun with it and being a well rounded individial. I simply love how you put things in such a easy way. You just get me and millions of other people who love you, as well. Thank you for everything you do! As, promised I'll be giving you fee back as I now call it " my unofficial reviews" just for you!

Thank you for your advice Matt :) I understand that you're always trying to help by giving practical advice that people can quickly use and see results. However, I do not agree with the point that you made about knowing what's going on and by that meaning reading the news. I usually stumble upon news or hear people discussing about news and although I'm not always 100% educated on a subject I can show interest when people are talking, ask questions and join the conversation in a less informed way. I don't think that that's a bad thing, neither that it makes me dull or ignorant. People have different interests and in my opinion judging someone quickly like that may be the actual factor that is keeping people from making new relationships. A good conversationalist in my opinion should be able to talk about something very meaningful to something very silly. And most of the times, the thing that will bring a smile on your face will be a silly conversation you had with someone.

Oh my God, Mobile Phone.. No... Just NO!!!
Even when I meet friends for tea, phone is on silent, and if anyone messages or rings I can reply after... Giving someone your attention is so important.. If you have your face in your phone next time I'll just text you!

In the vein of "bringing something to the table to share" an old school standard was to bring a small gift for the host.
Years ago I was invited to a small dinner party & I was stuck between bringing a bottle of wine or a flowers/a flower arrangement & I'm glad I decided on the latter because 1. The other guest brought a bottle of wine while it turned out the host already had opened a bottle & 2. It wasn't an issue in my case, but if you're not sure, your host might have a drinking problem & obviously bringing alcohol woukd be bad form.
Anyone else have any gift ideas or is this idea too old-fashioned in general?

I wish I would have seen this couple of weeks ago. There was a girl there who was so quiet and shy and I had a crush on her boyfriend for a while and we all felt the situation. We didn't talk, it was awful, and I wanted to talk to her, I wanted to show her I have nothing against her, she seemed like a nice girl. I feel bad about it. At least I got over her boyfriend haha.
