The US Supreme Court set Donald Trump on track for a week of momentous victories by overruling a state ban on standing again for president before a potential clean sweep of Super Tuesday votes.

America’s top court unanimously decided that Colorado could not disqualify Trump under the Fourteenth Amendment of the constitution, which bars from office those who “engaged in insurrection or rebellion”. It ruled that individual states did not have the power to make such a judgment.

This removed the main legal obstacle to his campaign for re-election a day before 15 Republican state primary votes across five time zones, when he could rack up a practically unassailable lead over his last rival, Nikki Haley. She picked up her first primary win at the weekend in Washington DC after nine defeats to Trump but opinion polls put her behind everywhere else on the map.

The supreme court has display the true spirit of the law of the land. That's how its should operate for the good of the people. See the people have spoken through the ballot. It's their right to choose who they think fits to hold such high office of the land and to lead them. Well done supreme court.
