FILM DESCRIPTION:
A young Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale) travels to the Far East, where he's trained in the martial arts by Henri Ducard (Liam Neeson), a member of the mysterious League of Shadows. When Ducard reveals the League's true purpose -- the complete destruction of Gotham City -- Wayne returns to Gotham intent on cleaning up the city without resorting to murder. With the help of Alfred (Michael Caine), his loyal butler, and Lucius Fox (Morgan Freeman), a tech expert at Wayne Enterprises, Batman is born.

One thing I think most people missed about Lucius is he sacrificed everything to do the right thing. Think about it. Why is a man this intelligent in the basement of Wayne Enterprise? Simple. He's there by choice. He could've quit Wayne after the death of Thomas and Martha and started working privately for anyone who would pay and be rolling in more money than he would know what to do with. But in the final movie, he reveals that he's been slowly consolidating his life's work to a smaller and smaller department where he could keep an eye on it and "keep it from falling into the wrong hands" (it's not his fault Bain found out Bruce's secret identity and stole the Tumblers). That's why we see him alone underground like this. He's been acting as a gatekeeper to keep his tech from hurting anyone.

Ask yourself how many men in the world would work this hard and, not only refuse the wealth, but the prestige that comes with everyone knowing how smart you are. This is ultimately why Bruce puts him in charge of his family's company. Only a person of his character could be trusted with it.

0:39 such a damn good line, really nice callback to their first conversation and building on this current one. This is how proper comedy is written into an otherwise "dark and gritty, realistic, " movie. The more I rewatch these, the more I realize how funny and hopeful they actually are.

the best line in the hwole film "Don't think of me as an idiot." a friend of mine was one of the white officers in Glory and he liked morgan freeman but said he had a way of saluting you when in uniform with a look in his eye that said "I'm saluting you but don't think you're better than me."
