Sometimes debates would become basketball matches for publicity even.

Nah, as a Pinoy, I can also say that there's some weird things that happen during election... It is...

1. The dead can vote
2. There are so many unknown ballots
3. Your signature during election changed 🤣

I also remember there was a tie for the Mayor position and they chose a winner by playing rock, paper, scissors

Imagine talking to a coin and saying: "life is in your hands"

Filipinos have entered the chat:

(Also yes it's actually true, I've witnessed it myself, also you can also use rock, paper and scissors to decided, well mostly in my school we play that to decide)

It was 2011 I told my parents they settled an election with a coin toss and I said I heard it from the news. They didn't believe me and I felt absolutely crushed. Now it's 2022 and I completely forgot about it until this day. I feel completed.

As a filipino, i can confirm this.

Marvic Feraren triumphed over Boyet Py from San Teodoro town in Mindoro Oriental province after both had received 3, 236 votes in Monday's poll.

A lot of countries do this to decide tied elections.
In England a couple of years ago, they did a tombola to decide the final seat in a local council election, which determined whether or not one of the parties would have majority control on the council.
In Virginia (I think) a couple of years ago, control of the State Senate came down to the final seat which was tied and decided by pulling a name out of a top hat!

That does actually kind of make sense, the luckiest candidate wins. I kind of wonder how it would affect the world overall if every country had this law lol

This happens in some elections in the US too. Most recently during a Democratic primary in Iowa during 2020 presidential run. It was a caucus, there were a few coin tossed to determine who won precincts.
