Over the years, Ancient Origins has reported on thousands of
archaeological mysteries many of which have not yet been solved. In
this video, we are going to show you 10 incredible unexplained ancient
mysteries that still puzzle the human mind. Perhaps one day we will find
the answers to some of the questions posed by these intriguing things
and places. Until then, just sit back as we dive deep into our ancient
history!
Number 10. The Giza Pyramids
Starting with one of the oldest human-made mysteries, built to endure an
eternity, the pyramids have done just that. The monumental tombs are
relics of Egypt's Old Kingdom era and were constructed some 4,500
years ago. It is believed that Egypt's pharaohs were expected to become
gods in the afterlife. To prepare for the next world, they erected temples
to the gods and massive pyramid tombs for themselves, which were
filled with all the things each ruler would need to guide and sustain
himself in the next world. the first pyramid was built in 2550 B.C. His
Great Pyramid is the largest in Giza and is around 481 feet tall. Its
estimated 2.3 million stone blocks each weigh an average of 2.5 to 15
tons. Tomb art includes depictions of ancient farmers working their
fields and tending livestock, fishing and fowling, carpentry, costumes,
religious rituals, and burial practices. Inscriptions and texts also allow
research into Egyptian grammar and language. It is still not known how
and why the ancient people made the pyramids. From where they got the
technology to build something so huge and magnificent? We don’t know
so if you do, let us know.

Number 9. the Deverell Villa
Deverell Villa is an ancient palatial Roman villa loaded with ancient
roman artifacts that were discovered completely by accident. A man
named Luke Erwin and his wife discovered the villa when they decided
to convert an old barn on their property. Electricians discovered it when
they were digging to lay electrical lines under the ground.
Archaeologists were called to excavate the site who unearthed the villa
carefully which was dated somewhere to 175 AD. The villa included
pottery, oyster shells, brooches, coins, and a stone coffin of a young
child.

Number 8. The Giant's Causeway
The Giant's Causeway is an area of about 40,000 interlocking basalt
columns. Causeway Coast is a spectacular area of global geological
importance on the sea coast at the edge of the Antrim plateau in
Northern Ireland. It lies at the foot of the basalt cliffs along the sea coast
on the edge of the Antrim plateau in Northern Ireland. Sixty million
years ago a huge volcanic eruption spewed out a mass of molten basalt,
which then solidified and contracted as it cooled, creating the cracks that
can be seen today. There are an estimated 37,000 polygon columns at
this World Heritage Site, so geometrically perfect that local legend has it
they were created by a giant. The dramatic sight has inspired legends of
giants striding over the sea to Scotland. Many scientists don’t believe In
giants so they are not sure how these things came into being. Geological
studies of these formations over the last 300 years have greatly
contributed to the development of the earth sciences.
Number 7. The ancient computer of China
In 1900, an amazing encrusted bronze object of undetermined use was
found on the small island of Antikythera. One of the curious scientists
decided to clean it and found that it was a complex instrument with cog-
wheels fitting one into another. Finely graduated circles and inscriptions
marked on the instrument in ancient Greek were apparently related to its
function. Based on the cargo, it was dated to about the 1st century BC. It
seemed to be a sort of astronomical clock without pendulum but no
Greek or Roman writer has ever described such an ancient computer,
though many other wonders of antiquity are mentioned. Researchers
have long debated where the device was built, and by whom. The
Enigmatic Antikythera Mechanism is Still Full of Secrets.
The
archaeologists believe that there must be some predecessors to this fine
instrument, but none have been found. The biggest question that
emerged out of this discovery is, how did the Greeks manage to build
this complex mechanism without any technology at their disposal? Or
was there technology that we don't know of? There are many such
questions, but no answers!
