I went to the badlands, so beautiful and peaceful. I just went along the road there, but saw a mountain goat and a huge group of prarrie dogs

It’s sad that cameras cannot capture how beautiful it really is. The North Unit is much more scenic and better camping in my opinion of course. I don’t want people to think the Cottonwood campground is the only boondocking in Western ND badlands. The USFS has 9 campgrounds and one picnic area that I believe allows overnight parking. The roads to these campgrounds are very well maintained and there is not much to worry about with getting to them. The trails South of the Interstate and by the North Unit are spectacular. Dare I say it? Don’t stay at Cottonwood campground if you want to see the badlands. Explore Medora and the South Unit then head back to your campsite. Even if it’s after the musical then explore the other 97% of the badlands. Every trail has a new feature new climate new view just around the next corner or over the next hill and it doesn’t take ten miles a football field walk can show views of a lifetime out there.

I love the Dakotas! I go there every summer to be with cousins! I’m a Michigan neighbor. If you need a play to stay near Sioux Falls, just call me!

We were there last year and loved it! We also love Fort Abraham Lincoln State Park just outside of Bismarck.

Great video! We visit TRNP every year. When in North Dakota it is pronounced bizon not bison....but only when in North Dakota ! 😊

Terrific video Mike and Jenn. For those who have not been the the TRNP, this video previewed the south unit. There is a north unit about 60 miles north that is 6:13 even more quiet has has a few unique features like the giant rock cannonballs and a small heard of Texas longhorn cattle.

What were those little critters at the beginning of the video before the bison? Kinda looked like a prairie dog/squirrel? Thx

Mike, how did you get permission to fly in the park? We were there in the Summer of 21 and it is a beautiful park. We went to both units and really enjoyed it. I have always been told one cannot fly in the parks so I never do.

Hi guys great video. We're camping all the way there from north Florida later this year! Didn't see your Dog, Beau, was it dog friendly on the trails at TRNP?
