‘The climate time-bomb is ticking.’

In the UN’s latest climate report released today, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change found the international climate goal of limiting global warming to 1.5°C (2.7°F) from pre-industrial levels is unlikely to be achieved.

The report draws on the findings of tens of thousands of scientific papers to provide a sprawling assessment of how the climate crisis is unfolding.

‘Humanity is on thin ice — and that ice is melting fast,’ UN Secretary-General António Guterres said. ‘Our world needs climate action on all fronts — everything, everywhere, all at once.’

This latest report is likely the last warning UN scientists will be able to make about the goal, since the next report will likely come after we hit the mark, according to the Associated Press.

They also mentioned that we still have a large amount of control over how over the target we will be iirc. I remain optimistic.
