A parent’s FTD diagnosis can upend families, unexpectedly turning youth and young adults into dementia care partners. This session offers insights on research with children, teens, and young adults (age 8-30s) who have been care partners and strategies on supporting them during the FTD journey. Staff of Lorenzo’s House, an organization that supports families navigating young-onset dementia -- alongside their youth programs facilitator from the Memory Center at UChicago Medicine -- discuss coping mechanisms and strategies for tending to the mental health of children, teens, and young adults, and ways to maintain self-care along their FTD journey.

Presenters: Diana Cose; Tessa Garcia McEwen, AM, LCSW, CDP; Bree Ruge, CDP.
