2022 Genesis G70 Review

The Genesis G70 is a compact luxury sport sedan with rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive that delivers speed and agility. It’s the smallest and lowest-priced sedan in the Genesis range and is available with a standard 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder or a potent twin-turbo V6.

For 2020, the G70 receives elegant styling enhancements to the front and rear of the vehicle so its design falls in line with the rest of the Genesis lineup. And it looks far more upscale than the last G70.

Love the look of this thing. Glad they kept the sedan alive with it as I bet it’s just that much better to drive than their SUVs.

I thought Genesis dropped the manual for 2022 🤔

Love the Tasman Blue exterior but I went with Saville Silver and a Sandstorm Gray interior….. ALSO you made a MAJOR error in the video ***you can NOT get a manual transmission on the 2022. It was discontinued for the refresh.

Such a great driving car. So impressed wth Genesis. Although they really would have given this the 2.5T and 3.5TT engine like in the GV70 to really be able to take on the competition from both price points

In the old days, luxury cars stood out for their quality materials and high end fit and finishes. Today, it is all about tech convenience and comfort features. In that regard, I suppose it is easier for cheap car companies to have credibility as "luxury car manufacturers" simply by piling on the tech. Of course, in a world where Mercedes and BMW use plastic engine parts and reliability is in the crapper, I can't blame Genesis for claiming rights to this segment as well.

Please do a comparison between that car and the Acura TLX types.

I like it...esp in that color. But I like the launch edition the best...the mesh wheel & matte paint make it stand out. Hope they start including that in the regular models.

That price adds up fast for a marketing that boasts a price tag way below its competitors with more power. In the end not much cheaper. You wind up paying for that "More" power.

It’s not a great deal when compared to its competitors when Hyundai/ Genesis stealerships increase market price by 5-10k

the S4's interior is far more elegant than the g70's. the inline 6 of the m340i is likely the best engine in the segment. i haven't driven the c43 amg. i don't agree that this is the best in the segment. it's a budget offering with great performance for the price point, but it's not the best.

I have to be honest, I don't like the refresh. It doesn't appeal to me aesthetically.

First, that crest grille is yuck. The split headlamps are inelegant (they should stretch around much further). The pre-refresh G70 looked much better.

And I miss the fog lamps.

Second, I like that the pre-refresh G70 could be mistaken for a Bentley or Aston Martin. Borrowing aesthetic sensibilities from other brands is a Good Thing.

Third, the rear end of the refreshed G70 is butt ugly (pun intended). The pre-fresh G70 looked much better.

Fourth, the refreshed gauge cluster, which is half physical and half digital, is unappealing. Make it all-physical or all-digital but *don't* do half and half. (The blind spot imaging could've been placed in the center display.)

Fifth, I liked the boomerang side vents on the pre-refresh G70. They gave the car a unique look. The refreshed G70 loses that uniqueness and could be mistaken for any other Genesis model.

The 2022 G70 is still an excellent vehicle but it'll never get the same kind of love from me as in the pre-refresh G70.
