Really nice shine, man. One of the best skills I carried over after getting out of the navy was shoe and boot shining. People at work in the civilian world go bananas when I shine my shoes. I’ve had people pay me $50+ to give them a mirror shine. Never stop shining! And it’s important to pass this on to the next generation because I’m afraid shoe and boot shining is becoming a lost art.

I used to a cadet (not the same thing granted) and I found it so therapeutic shining my shoes and boots. It's so oddly satisfying!

Just sum advice
When removing debris off hold the boot upside, use gravity to your advantage

First off - I cannot believe I just watched a video about polishing boots. I must say I enjoyed it. Navy vet on this end, 24 years retired EMCS (SS). Keep doing what you doing, this is some positive stuff. Good for those not of my generation and those of my generation. Only thing which would make this better is if you went Subs. Not sure your rate not sure your rank, but keep on going. If you do not do at least 20, make sure you get your degree and make sure it has some teeth do not settle for a general degree. The outside world wants it to be more specific. Also like you choice of cameras, I have the T6i as well.

Yo thanks so much for this video. It helped me so much! I've watched so many other videos about polishing boots and shoes but nobody comes close to this one as they've never shown the full process without cuts or edits, this was really clear and precise appreciate it.

Good job bro. I got the same boots, Belleville 800 ST. I shine them every shift, even though I'm at a busy fire station.
I feel like it starts with self-respect. Also, little details like that set a good example for the new guys and helps build morale.
Plus, like Deion Sanders said: you look good, you play good lol.

I really liked your video man! Even after 3 decades of being out, I still do this for my boots in the civilian sector. I guess it just a habit that will always stay with me as you know. Thank you for your service. Brought back a lot of great memories sitting out in the common area with everyone else doing the same thing. Well done!!!👍👌👏

We used a much faster method :
1. Clean the boot - remove mud et.
2. Add regular shoe polish over the boot and leave to dry.
3. Apply Hard Kiwi shoe polish on the tip (masking off the desired areas).
4. Light Kiwi on fire and let burn out.
5. Using a buffing pad on a power drill, shine the boot

6. Get an extra day off for having mirror boots

This is the first video I've seen of yours where you sound and act very much more mature. I'm glad you're taking pride in learning to polish your boots properly. Good on you!

I fire shine my toes on my shoes all the time. I just leave the flame at a distance and let the heat melt the polish without burning the leather. It is probably best to tell people to stay away from fire shining their leather if they are beginners.

Another thing is I’ve always caught a better shine with my spit instead of water. I think it might be the enzymes or something in saliva that do something water can’t. It seems like it’s just a preference thing. Some people think spitting on their shoes is gross.

Shim: "You don't need your boots to be entirely shiny"

When I was in the Marines from 1978 - 1989. I had my own special mix. I would start by brushing off dirt. Then I would use saddle soap.
To clean the boots. Then I would apply polish and buff the boots. The last step, spray rubbing alcohol, then put a match to then. Once fire 🔥 goes out, buff to a high shine.
Thank you brother for sharing.

thanks for the video. I unfortunately have to do this before Monday for a fellow firefighter that just died in the line of duty here in Massachusetts.
