Shows that you shouldn't judge someone by the brand of their boots, but how well they care for the boots they have

Carolina boots are massively underrated, Light, comfortable, strong & long wearing. My Ca5520s saved my foot when I fell in the path of my trash truck & my idiot driver pulled both sets of back wheels on a 30+ton truck over my foot/lower leg. They kept the meat smash from being too bad & I only broke 1 bone in my foot. I really feel like that boot is the only reason I can still walk.

Leatherworker here! You're doing a great job taking care of your boots, I personally use neatsfoot oil for most applications to condition the leather before the waterproofing step, but so long as it's getting some kind of oil that won't go rancid it's good. If you want to get a little more life out of that midsole you might try squeezing a little bit of shoe goo into the gap and letting it set!

Pine Tar and Beeswax….. that’s sounds like I could throw a candle wick in there and have one hell of a Christmas smell around the house!! Haha😂

Used a product called Sno SEAL on a pair of Vasque Hiker II's I bought back in '73. Melted the silicone impregnated wax in with a hair dryer. Was at a college football and it was raining just a bit so was under the stands and at first didn't know I was standing in the run-off from the stands looked down and the stream of c water was going over my boots! My feet were dry! Those boots lasted me 35yrs! Had to reapply the SnoSeal a couple of times!

THIS is how the US forest service prepare for a rainy day…
Act accordingly.

Pine tar really sticks to things! Works great for horses with cracked hoofs from being out on pasture

My dad used to work as a crane operator, and he used to do his maintenance every Sunday since it was his only day off.

Huberds shoe grease is some good stuff! It make my boots so soft and supple after a long winter. Plus when you get to run your car heater, it will smell like a campfire. 😁

An old toothbrush works great to apply your boot grease or oil… it doesn’t soak up and hold on to the the oil like a rag does…

Holy shit! 5 years is insane! I do lawn care in the mountains of NC, our boots last us MAYBE one year. Our boss buys us new ones up to twice a year though, he's a pretty cool boss.

Truly appreciate these type of videos, especially on proper maintenance of one’s work boots. Never cheap out on your feet ! Good job 👍🏻

as a cobblers apprentice it cheers me up to see people sharing quality shoe care that will actually reach people. my only other advice is you can atually plug that hole to a certain degree by mixing leather dust from sanding with super glue though something of that size really should be taken in and redone. it'll cost probably 200-250 but after 5 years and 100% that's worth it as they'll last another 7-10 with proper care

Tanners spend a lot of time getting the oils out of skins.
That’s why I only put bees wax on my leathers.

Great channel, thank you.

I love taking care of my hiking boots. Shoe Goo will take good care of that midsole issue. It works like a charm. It comes in black.

Watching this vid reminded my of my dad oiling his boots and the way the oil smelled. He was a Forester, too, back in the 50s, 60s and 70s.

I'm laughing at myself here: I like you and your videos so much I'm willing to watch you clean your boots.
That really says something!
