30 years after his last visit to Japan, John Williams has returned for a special concert – making his debut with the world-famous Saito Kinen Orchestra in renditions of his beloved film scores and reuniting with his longtime friend, world-renowned conductor Seiji Ozawa. Captured live on record at Suntory Hall last year, ‘John Williams in Tokyo’ is set to be released by Deutsche Grammophon on 3 May and follows his acclaimed concert albums, ‘The Berlin Concert’ and ‘John Williams in Vienna’, which topped charts around the globe.

“It was a joy to return to Japan after 30 years to visit my dear friend and longtime musical colleague Seiji Ozawa and to conduct his brilliant Saito Kinen Orchestra for the very first time.” – John Williams

Timeless “Schindler’s List” by the legendary composer John Williams! It doesn’t matter how many times it has been performed and has been heard it tears heart apart. And having The Maestro conducting it adds to that. Priceless!

Look at the way Williams watches the soloist and leads the orchestra to follow him. I mean that's amazing in my experience.

It is an incredibly beautiful performance by the violinist and the greatest composer of our time, John Williams.

He guides his hand away from the violin, John Williams drops his hand and the audience can now breathe. Masterpiece

How is it possible? Does he write all the different instruments parts.? Seriously, how can a person be so unbelievably good? I cry listening to any of it. Superman, to this, Jesus. No one will ever come close to

Through one instrument, this melody speaks quite clearly the overwhelming darkness that came to them, great lose of loved ones, the deep sadness that broke their hearts, the vague glimpses of hope that meant much and the complete helplessness that snuffed all hope as well as a survival which is far from a happy end. A haunting and surreal memory.
Though John W. composed it, this piece seems to transcend his magnificent talent and ability to compose.
This composition pierces the hearts of even those who did not suffer the tragedy. Pain and suffering which surely can not be described in anyone's words.

The amount of communication he's able to do with just his eyes is wild.

THE MUSICIANS ARE LUCKY TO HAVE THE COMPOSER HIMSELF CONDUCT THE MUSIC HE COMPOSE. BEYOND TRIPLE EXCELLENT PRESENTATIONS. IS THAT STRADIVARIUS VIOLIN?. TRIPLE EXCELLENT RENDITION. THE BEST I EVER HEARD TOGETHER WITH PERLMAN.

Incredible - watch how John Williams focuses on the violin soloist (Toyoshima Yasushi) totally - needs no score - just shapes the orchestral sound. And how they all respond to him - a concert they will never forget!
