What is LG's WebOS Smart TV System?

Smart TVs are very varied in their implementation. Generally the hardware is underpowered and the system itself doesn't feel all that snappy.

Well LG bought an OS from HP and decided to put it into all of their Smart TVs. It is marketed as a multitasking-friendly OS, but is it good? Linus gives you a rundown of WebOS and some of our thoughts on this latest generation of Smart TVs.

4 years later and apparently it's one of the best SmartTV OS out there. Still looks the same though which is not a bad thing.

I would like to see smart TVs include a web browser, a place for a cable tuner card, and the ability to hook an external hard drive to it or a place to add a hard drive built into the TV for recording shows without having to have a DRV, cable box, or a PC hooked up to the TV. These are needed so that the TV can truly be the perfect all in one entertainment device. These three would be really simple to add to the next gen smart TVs.

We have a 2013 LG Smart TV & it's already starting to dim on its own. It also has what seems to be a scratch on the INSIDE bottom corner. I've already had to get some LEDs replaced so I turned down the brightness. Is it reaching its life span only after 4 years? Is it worth fixing the problems mentioned?

Is there a difference between WebOs and LG AI ThinQ? The specs for LG C8 on bestbuy list LG AI ThinQ as the smart platform, while the LG C8 on Sam's Club list WebOs for smart platform.

Web OS 2.0 work great, very fast, absolutly no lags .

Lgs webos works well and does what it says on the tin however the Samsung interface, remote control and voice control is a more slick affair and easier to navigate overall.

i ordered the lg 9500 55 inch 4k tv i will be buying the camera for it for gesture controls its something i was wanted to use for my tv i do like it that u can change channels and volumes to buy using voice commands.

I was given a replacement TV from Samsung after my dual core 64 inch plasma broke (had weird artifact lines horizontally across the screen) and the tv I was given was newer also costed $1000 more then the defective one it's a LED and the blacks are really amazing and colors too! (according to my eyes) also the quad core is alot snappier when switching between apps love it tho the GUI is abit ugly this Web OS looks promising.

Why don't we just make a computer that can run games, runs a gaming operating system, but can also run regular windows/mac applications, and can play tv. Whoever does this first and does this well will corner the market on this. I am sick of not being able to stream to my stupid samsung smart tv.

Watching this 2021 because just bought a LG CX and was new to WebOs, stumbled onto a very young-er Linus LUL wow!
