It's people like Martin Lewis who understand all the variables in life and who dedicate themselves in their professional subject that should be running this country and not politicians who are only in it for themselves.

All of these tariffs are designed to confuse the consumer nothing else, all smoke and mirrors. This government should take these business's to task, and compel them to be more transparent.

The heat of summer is over - so now is the time to turn your fridge down. Of all of the appliances in your home, refrigeration is the thing that burns through the most wattage. So if you wish to reduce the units used on your next bill, turn down that dial in your fridge as low as you can go - that is to the minimum level required to keep the ice from starting to melt.

The energy companies are trying to force people to get a smart meter by having a lower tarriff for those but about 20% of smart meters don't work. Also my parents had a small private pension and some savings but still got pension credit so it is definitely worth applying to see.

Why does it have to be so complicated? I think it's a consequence of the free market. You have to do so much research to avoid being ripped off. Too many rapacious companies out there.

Power companies insist on a smart meter, so they have control.

If energy companies routinely offered tariffs with reduced standing charges but higher unit prices, then this would help light users, and be a much fairer system, by more accurately paying for what you actually use.

11:52 Unfortunately there's too much greed in the system for that ideal to become reality. They will sell that idea as described but realistically make it more expensive. Morals and ethics have disappeared over the years for businesses, they only create ways to become more profitable, not ways to make it better or more affordable for the consumer

If whole prices have gone down why are these companies allowed to charge more?
