This is such an underrated skill. I just worked on an HR-V with an inoperative trunk latch. Nobody else at the shop could fix it because they saw power and ground at the connector and replaced the latch with no results. Turns out a heavily corroded wire was the culprit the whole time.

Probably one of the best skills I ever learned and use today in tech school. The future will come with all sorts of new electrical faults and fixes and unfortunately isn’t reached far enough in depth as it should be knowing the future of the automobile.

It’s great to know but it’s not as big of a deal as they made it sound in school. I can count on one hand how many times a voltage drop was necessary to find the issue.

Voltage drop is what i teach as a mentor at my dealer...its the easiest way to understand, how much voltage to do have at the load, what voltage should you have, and work your way back to find where the voltage is being lost 🤓🤓

The way I test is lead on power side and test before and after load is this correct? Or is this not voltage drop. The way I see it is I'm testing how much load ot drop the load has on the circuit

Basically check electricity before removing any part

Did he just show an open source and say people will think theres no problem? He opened the cuircut it will give base source voltage, whatever it may be. When he put the load device on he completes the circuit, only way to accurately see VD

Always load test the circuit. I don't really ever use a multi Meter it's all test lights of different amp draws
