When I'm the only human at home and hear a strange sound, I look at my cats' reactions. If they aren't wary about it, I'm usually not either.

There was a cat in a nursing home that knew when someone was going to pass on. He was tested by the staff. He was put in a room with a patient the staff thought was going to pass. He refused to stay in the room. Next day that patient began to improve. This cat would go to a patient about 4 hours before they passed. It alerted the staff to what was about to happen. Family members asked to be called if the cat joined their family member. This cat made sure nobody passed on alone.

While recovering from a heart attack I would eat breakfast in my yard and soak up the warmth of the sun...every day a little cat would visit, hang out with me and after breakfast and coffee would leave..just a stray cat wondering around the neighborhood...this continued for almost four months until winter..during the first snow fall I thought of my little friend and how cold she would be..I could not let freeze so out I went in the snow..she was shaking and very cold...as soon as she saw me she ran into the house to be my forever pet...

I have worked as a hospice nurse for many years. I have noticed that cats, or animals in general, are very smart and seem to have a sixth sense about people who are dying. I once took care of a lady at her house who had 6 cats. The patient was actively dying and was bed bound. All of the cats got in bed with her and surrounded her as she passed. They knew what was going on. She loved her cats and it was so special they were there for her.

"Cats aren't burdened by a lifetime of belief." damn that's poetry, man.

When he came in from his garden, my dad had a habit of coming into the living room through one door, weaving his way around the furniture, and going out through another door. The family cat adored him and used to follow him in and out. After he died, my mum described how the cat would sleep in his chair and sometimes, she'd suddenly wake up, lift her head and slowly turn it as if watching someone walk from one door, around the furniture, to the other door. I didn't believe it until I saw it myself on a visit home, but the really freaky thing was when my dogs joined in, all watching the same invisible thing moving across the room!

When my mom passed, my sweet boy was laying on her bed with her just watching. The moment she took her last breath, he sat straight up and looked directly at her, he’s the one who alerted us that she had gone.

Cats are truly incredible animals.

Recently we had a good friend pass away. We took in his cat when he went in to hospice. One night the cat woke me up meowing next to me on the bed, I looked at the clock and noticed it was sometime after 4 AM. In the morning we were informed our friend had passed at 4:20 Am. I think our friend stopped by to say goodbye to his cat.

“Cats are not worried about what could or couldn’t be, they’re worried about what IS.” That’s a great quote!

I’ve been experiencing auditory hallucinations since adolescence and my cats have always helped me discern whether I’m actually hearing something or not. If they don’t react, I can let it go. That being said, we’ve had some sounds such as voices down the hall when it’s just me and one cat in the house that they have verified for me. I trust their superior senses.

Cats certainly read emotions. My precious girl cat got out and was hit by a car 4 weeks ago. My boy cat knew. He could feel my grief. He went from a guy who didn't even sit next to us, to curling up beside me. He even climbed into my lap a couple of times. He has never done that before. He follows me around and sits at my feet like he's guarding me. He will come from another room when he senses that I am sad. It's really amazing.

In those moments of doubt, I like to think: as long as he isn't HISSING at the dark corner of the ceiling, we're safe :P

In Slavic folklore it was believed that cats chased away demons from homes.

I missed my last cat so much, I had to adopt another. The new cat was so stressed out, even after 2 weeks, that I asked my late cat to have a talk with her. Later that same day, the new cat totally relaxed and even began to imitate my late cat. I was totally amazed and now we are both very happy. I am still so thankful for them both.

We lost our sweet boy Pye over a year ago at age 19. It was devastating. He passed in my husband's arms. We both had dreams about him for quite awhile, and then I started feeling "something" jump on the bed exactly where he always used to, and lay down in the same spot he used to. A few times, I also would feel the pressure on my back where he used to lay 😂. I actually found it very comforting that he was there. Here's where it gets timely.
A few days ago, my husband had a dream that Pye wanted him to follow him, and led him to a gate. Pye walked in, and then a different colored cat came out. THE NEXT DAY, and a friend of ours asked if we felt ready to adopt a new cat, because she had a kitten that needed to be homed quickly. 😳😳 Obviously, our answer was YES. So, we've been prepping the house for a new family member to arrive today 🥰🥰💜❤

When my precious kitty passed this summer, I remember sitting the next morning on the couch and bawling my eyes out like crazy and all of a sudden, I heard a meow. It was so incredibly clear. I was all alone in the house and the TV etc were off. It was almost like she was trying to talk to me.

I had a grey cat named Buddy and we loved each other so much. I mean, you can see the love in his eyes, I still cry over him, it's been 3 years. One night, laying in bed, I felt something jump on the bed, walk over to my pillow, and then walked away. I could actually feel the weight and movement. I know it was him, visiting me. I loved him so much 😢

My cat Katie passed two years ago this April, but her spirit is very much still around. I can feel the pressure of her on my lap. I feel her weight on the bed, in the spot she always slept on, and I hear her purr as I drift off to sleep. I even heard her growl and hiss when a neighbour's cat came in through an open window one night. I now have another two cats, and both of them sleep everywhere except Katie's favourite box, which she always slept in more often than anywhere else. Both avoid it, as if they know she's sleeping in there. Either I'm completely mad (which is always possible), or the spirit world is very, very real.

I actually think my cat is my guardian Angel! She was a stray that had been hanging around our home for two years, she was feral and would hang around us but kept her distance and wouldn’t let us touch her! After my hystorectomy I went through a very dark time and one night I was having suicidal thoughts and while I was outside praying and pleading to god she walked up to me and jumped on my lap and I’m not sure she realizes she may have saved my life that day! ❤
