Learning to sing is an interesting experience and you learn to appreciate how your vocals is an instrument in and off itself.

well, that's amazing. I really think that your timbre is special! It's 6 months that I'm studying and practicing vocals too and it's so useful, just like practicing any other instrument, that's very useful! (I play guitar too) Greetings Rob keep

Rob hope you can put a video up of all the lightbulb moments you've had while learning to sing. And also what your daily practice is. And how you get into the different areas of the voice? Anyways you sound amazing!

I was a boy soprano but hated the attention so stopped singing as soon I was old enough to stop my mother pushing me in to it. Started singing again in my late twenties, could do four gigs on the trot without any vocal problems. Did it sporadically, couple of years off then do some gigs. But I never got to realise my full potential because I didn't take it seriously (due to being forced in to it as a child) and practice. Didn't sing a note for nearly eight years, and in that time I became disabled. The massive amount of medication I have to take dehydrates me to the extent I hardly produce any saliva at all, which naturally affected my singing, particularly my falsetto. Sorry for the essay, but what I'm trying to say is that I wish I'd gone for it and worked at my craft. I'm still a tenor but I find it much harder to sing some old songs that I did with ease. I'll probably never get back to what I once was, but I'd like to start singing again. It's been rewarding to see your trajectory Rob, as a singer and performer. It's made me want to do what I can with my voice, so thank you for that. Was it Hannah that gave you tips on warm ups, practicising etc, or, have you also sought out other tutors/online methods to keep your voice in shape? PS. There's one bit in this video where you're pushing your voice and getting it to distort that reminded me of Richie Kotzen.

Also, for that Chapman semi-hollow, please put covers on those humbuckers, exactly as you did with the Norseman. Of course, I am still buying one anyway, but I would rather it already come with covered pickups so I don't need to buy covers from a 3rd party. Plus, covered pickups give it a classic vibe which perfectly matches what a semi-hollow is about.

If that is what the final version of the semihollow Chapman for Guitar Center looks like, I will be making my first ever GC guitar purchase.

Hey Chappers! Any chance you could post a video or a link to the precise methods you use for your vocal warm-ups? I recognise some of the techniques from when I went to a vocal coach years ago, but I'd love to see your full routine as it's obviously working. Cheers!

It looks like you have fun with that especially with the person next to you in the car. Great video!!

I can relate to this and I’ve wrecked my voice today because I’ve pushed it without practicing and preparing it. I need to try this and make more of an effort! Good luck with the gig!
