Dr. Stephen Fath holds a doctorate degree in Protein Biochemistry from Heidelberg University in Heidelberg, Baden-Württemberg, Germany. Dr. Fath joined Thermo Fisher Scientific in 2011 as a R&D scientist, and has served as the manager of the protein and cell line services since 2014. An experienced scientist with over 19 years of research experience, Dr. Fath's speciality is focused on optimization of protein expression systems, including gene optimization mechanisms and recombinant protein expression vectors. Dr. Fath has been instrumental in the development of a number of new technologies during his time at Thermo Fisher Scientific, and is always searching for ways that protein expression can be improved.

Reliable expression of recombinant proteins in human, CHO, or insect cells is essential for many aspects of biomedical research and drug development, but is often hampered by low expression yields that limit subsequent structural and functional analyses.
In this presentation, we will demonstrate how our proprietary sequence optimization algorithm (Invitrogen GeneArt GeneOptimizer technology) enhances the sequence through a parallel, multi-parameter approach and then how our advanced expressions systems further maximize protein yield.
