I first saw this film as a child, while staying with my aunt and uncle, they had no children and she looked and behaved like Better Davis! The memory of this film was in my subconscious, I remembered it as The Red Barn, the creepy music and the wind are what I remembered, great performance by EGR!

I've never been so impressed by E. G. Robinson's acting as in this movie, absolutely right and convincing. All the actors are good and so refreshingly honest and genuine.

All things considered - the strange plot, the dynamite cast, the exquisite film score, and its portrayal of young innocence in a post-war rural America gone forever - it is probably THE best movie I have ever seen... and I've seen a lot. Nothing made today comes even close.

Wow, it's so unique and refreshing to see a noir film out in the countryside, instead of in a dense urban environment. Love it!

Watching from New York August 5th 2024
My mother is 93 not long for this world and 75 lb s

She was born in 1931 and I wanted to see what movies she would have seen when she was a teenager.. she used to tell me she could see a movie uptown if she brought a coat hanger. They would let you in.
It was the Riviera

I've always loved things of the past. How life was.

I especially love the King James Bible there's a lot of past in there that I want to know about.

This was a great movie❤
Thank you for uploading these black and white I find it way better than regular television.

I love Edward g Robinson

Very enjoyable, suspenseful movie. I remember my parents saying they went to see this movie on a date. They were married the next year in 1948. I'd never seen it before. Thanks for posting it!

I love movies like this, no profanity, no nudity you can understand what the movie is really about, the women was ladies there's a big difference. Movies back then left things up to your imagination, even though it was in black and white you could see the red house great movie, fantastic actors I truly enjoyed it.

Great to see a good copy of it. Allene Roberts just died last year. She'll always haunt me with her beauty in this film.

Outstanding! Up until a few weeks ago I thought most of the films from this era were gangster, sci-fi, cowboy or war films! Noir films and so many other films from the golden era of Hollywood!

A really good thriller, and Edward G. Robinson was a standout. Excellent in every way.

Wonderful, wonderful film. Unlike any script I've seen. All of the actors - Robinson at the center, of course... all wonderful and beautifully cast. - Julie London, my gosh. Rory Calhoun as a teenager. What more could you ask for. Watch this film!

This one is worth watching. I saved it to my “watch later” stash and then waited three weeks. I wish I had jumped right in. Of course, you can never go wrong with Edward G. Robinson. Add a stellar cast (especially a sassy young Julie London and an earnest Lon McCallister) and some of the best lightning I’ve seen in a movie, and the recipe gets even better. The plot has some week spots, but overall it’s sound. When I start a movie later in the evening, I tend to fall asleep if it’s not that good. I never even yawned during this one. The story reminded me of “Shepherd of the Hills” (the book, not the awful film). I highly recommend watching it ... and I sincerely thank the person who posted it.

*That duck deserves an Oscar:*

( a. ) for swimming just at the right moment, twice, on cue; and ( b. ) for his _method-acting_ style only since accomplished by his cousins _Donald and Daffie_

We know it looks smooth on top but l can tell under the water he's paddling like fudgery to complete this final take.
