I just completed viewing this movie on Friday evening. It is very Noir. Edward G Robinson's character is twisted. The facial expressions Robinson uses to express the mental anguish his character experiences are like gold.

I first heard about this in Martin Scorsese's doc (as well as Phenix City Story also this month) A Century of Cinema: A Personal Journey through 100 years of American Film. He mentions and shows brief scenes from about 300 films, and over the years I've tried to see as many as I can. The Red House was no exception, I'll never forget Edward G Robinson's creepy stare into the lake, which was the scene he used. Happy to see his "deep cuts" finally getting restoration and new attention through Eddie Muller. The two guys know their stuff....if it's in both's Venn Diagram of impactful Film Noirs, you can bet it's worth watching!

Just watched this this week, Edward G Robinson definitely took his skills to a whole new level, extremely well done.
