Eight-year-old girl makes radio call to International Space Station - BBC News

An eight-year-old girl in the UK has had an out of this world conversation with an astronaut aboard the International Space Station.

Isabella, from Kent in England, used her dad's amateur radio to call fellow radio enthusiast and American astronaut Kjell Lindgren aboard the station as it passed over the UK.

The call was only brief, but Kjell later Tweeted calling his chance chat with Isabella "one of the best" he's ever had using the equipment.

Hahah oh my god, that was too adorable! Boys have all the space clothing hahah I never noticed. I know what she meant though. I think she was encouraging little girls to engage in things that may be considered more of a boy thing. She is totally right! and there are plenty of female astronauts, and in this day and age, females are proving they can do any job that men do, just as efficiently, and sometimes even better. Thankfully society matured from the old way of thinking. But yeah, I wish the news had more feel good stories like this! That little girl’s dad is doing a great job. She will remember this experience for the rest of her life.

Well done, I have been trying to do this on my handheld radio and home made antenna for years but never been able to catch them while they are using it at the same time. It's quite an achievement actually.
