I don't believe in secret buffs and debuffs, but the losers' queue is definitely real, and it is pretty obvious when you check the stats and you see that the players on your team are coming out of a losing streak and the players on the other team from a winning streak.

u dont need a rioter to confirm losersq or winnersq, just look at the match history of your teammates and compare it to the other team, usually when u are in losersq, usually 3 or more ppl on ur team has a 2+ losingstreak and the enemy team has mostly 2+ wins in a row.

Riot definitely does something with matchmaking. I’m an adc and yesterday went 9-2, was placed with 60%+ WR supports AND JG every game today 0-5 with my HIGHEST support having a WR of 35% :)

That still doesn't explain why I get <50% teammates wr when I'm loosing
And when I'm winning it's mostly >50-60% wr

It's statistically impossible for 5 people who are coming from winning or loss steaks to be paired on opposite teams together multiple times in massive patterns

The game is no longer fun. Either you get stomped and can't do anything about it, or you get a team that curve stomps them and it just isn't fun. This losers que is like a cycle, they want us to keep playing and have hope and it makes us addicted to the game.

Loser's queue and winner's queue are both real in every MOBA(There was a topic about loser's queue in Pokemon Unite as well and it was proven that it exists there). However, this is not why in general players cannot climb

It could be an emergent property of the matchmaking algorithm rather than hardcoded.

Basically, it could be that the matchmaking is matching people based on MMR and other factors but no winner/loser queue variable exists in the algorithm. However, when played out, it ultimately leads to those outcomes.

I mean, even if there's nothing they doing to actively put us on a losing queue it makes sense for the algorithm to do it by itself, since the queueing is based on mmr and they have to "balance" the two teams some situations can happen where your team is bad to balance you being good, in which no matter what you do, since you facing a overall better team and it's a game of 5v5 you are sure to lose that game.

A thing that I commonly face is that when I play my main champion and I try hard 100% to win, I often get inters and I cannot win no matter how hard I try or how well I perform. Then, there are games where I will pick something I feel 60% comfortable on, perform relatively badly, and my team will hard carry me. It's so weird.

I miss close-call games where it's really enjoyable whether u lose or win it's a wholesome experience. Now it's full of curbstomps and players T-bagging losing team with "EZ", hence a toxic experience.

Loser’s queue in the sense of matching people of different skill levels and matching players that experienced a losing streak does exist. The simple reason being that it is extremely rewarding for Riot to create some sort of losers queue. The players play more because they want to get their Lp back and the get further from their rank goal which leads to them playing more to achieve it.

I heard this analogy from a overwatch coach years ago but it stuck with me and i think it applies really well to league too: 33% of your games you cant win, you might have an afk, the enemies have smurf, generally something outside of your control affects the game, 33% you cant lose, the enemy have an afk, your team has a smurf etc. you get the idea, 34% of games your individual skill as a player actually matters and how well you play determines rather you win or lose. This theory/analogy of games also is in line with the winrates of high elo players doing stuff like unranked to challenger challenges where theyll usually be between 60% and 70% winrate by the end of it (usually a small sample size of less than 1000 games, if they hit that number it would most likely be around 65% to 67%) so yeah, a majority of your games (66%) will feel not balanced or fair just by sheer chance and statistics and identfying what kind of game youre in can be a really useful skill to develope ^^

I quit playing after I went 14 games in a row where I had all 4 teammates under 37% wr, and my enemy team had all 5 players over 50% winrate.

I had started those 14 games at 58% winrate, dropped to 49% and I was just done. Maybe it's a coincidence, but I was sure enough at that point to quit.

I had felt it was unfair for a long time. I went 9-1 in placements, and was getting 12 LP for a win and losing 18 or more. So I started tracking opponent teams and mine and when I saw that streak, I was so disgusted by the game, I never played again.

I spent about $500 on RP over the 3 years I played.

I did get a chat restriction once in that time. But I never once ran it down or anything close to that. I never even voted to forfeit because I knew any game was winnable in silver if you keep trying.

I really thought I was the exact kind of player Riot would want. Spends money, consumes content, etc.

I still watch a little pro, although this new Thursday / Friday deal is not ideal, and I still watch League clips on YouTube sometimes. I didn't abandon the game, but I'll never play a ranked or even normal again. Maybe Urf someday, but so far a year without playing and I'm much happier

I think that they failed to mention the concept of variance as well. 30% of games are absolutely unwinnable no matter what you do for whatever reason. Through random probability that 30% can hit consistently and go for "streaks", we just take it more personally so we give meaning to it because we want to feel as though we can control it. This concept common is black jack, poker, etc, so part of getting better at those games is develop the mentals to understand variance and not get tilted.

It wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if something like "loser's queue" was actually a thing. It's no secret anymore that big game development companies make use of psychologists to design their game and primarily its monetization in a way to get the most and longest lasting engagement from players.
If their data and research shows that the average player plays the game more and interacts with the in-game shop more often when their experience playing is a roller coaster then I'm certain developers would want to make use of that and "fixing" games with ever so slightly skewed matchmaking would absolutely be a way to do so.

The problem is the example he gives isn't what I'm seeing. I have way too many games where one side loses all 3 lanes or wins all 3 lanes without jungle intervention, often time racking up 6-0 scores for one team before the jungler even appears for their first gank. It's bound to happen occasionally, but when it's happening regularly it's hard to look at it and think that the people programming the matchmaker aren't paycheck thieves.
