In order to introduce as many people from other countries as possible to the diverse and authentic Iranian cuisine, I decided to organize a two-day food tour in Dubai together with Mino Amin a Food Travel and a famous YouTuber from South Korea who has more than 1.4 million subscribers on YouTube. Mino's reaction to Iranian food was very interesting and he was quite surprised, stay tuned for the first part of the Iranian food tour in Dubai...
First, we went with Mino and his wife to try different types of Iranian breakfast, so I chose Arous e Bandar restaurant because I had come here before with Mark Wiens and Trevor James.
They have all the breakfast items here, such as the famous Shirazi Ash e Sabzi (herb ash), which is one of the famous breakfasts of Shiraz city. Made with mutton, vegetables, onions and beans and is very delicious. It is eaten both for breakfast and for dinner, and Mino liked the combination of this dish very much.
We had Bandari sausage, which is very popular throughout Iran and southern cities and is made from a combination of sausage, potato and onions. They also brought us omelette and Do Piyazeh, which is a combination of fried onions and meat.
After breakfast, we went to the old bazaar of Deira in Dubai to taste Faloodeh Shirazi with Mino, but unfortunately, Baman Ali Cafe, which I had been to earlier, was closed that day, so we went through the Bazaar with Mino and bought authentic Iranian saffron from an Iranian shop for him. They have a variety of pistachios, almonds and spices here, and in the traditional market of Deira you can buy all kinds of spices, dry fruits and perfumes. Many people in the market, knew Mr. Taster and of course, we saw a lot of Iranians inside the market as well.
For lunch, we went to Kando Iranian restaurant, whose chef is dear Chef Farshid, and they are going to prepare traditional Iranian food, desserts, and drinks for us, from neck and lamb shank meat to Ash reshteh , Dizi, Zereshk Polo (barberry rice), authentic Shirazi faloodeh, and traditional Iranian Doogh. Mino first started with Ash Reshteh, which can actually be said to be our most famous Iranian Ash.
This traditional and unique dish is often eaten with curd and is a combination of noodles, chickpeas, beans, onions, fried onions, oil, salt and fried mint, which is extremely delicious and Mino fell in love with it. Bread, cheese, and herbs (Noon Panir Sabzi) is among the popular Iranian dishes that has many fans.
Chef Farshid prepared neck meat and lamb shank for us as well, which was very delicious, with his unique cooking, made with oil, lots of fried onions, and garlic, and it was extremely delicious. The meat is so tender it melts in your mouth due to its softness and freshness.
It was a masterpiece. Regarding the Dizi or Abgousht, I must say that it is one of the most delicious Iranian dishes, which is strangely popular, and it is interesting to say that it is considered one of the oldest dishes of Iranians. A combination of water, mutton, mutton fat that makes the taste of the dizi much more unique, tomatoes, potatoes, peas, onions which all form the broth that is eaten by dipping bread into it. They mash the meat and peas, potatoes and tomatoes and call it Goosht Koobideh, both items are very delicious and Mino liked it very much.
And for the final part they made a traditional Iranian Doogh, the favorite drink of Iranians for Mino. A combination of yogurt, water, mint and rosemary. Mino tried Faloodeh Shirazi too, a masterpiece and famous dessert of Shiraz, which is made of thin strands of starch that are made in a semi-frozen syrup with sugar and rose water. This dessert is usually accompanied with lemon juice or traditional Iranian ice cream. It is truly delicious. Be sure to stay tuned for the next part where Mino tries Kale Pache.
