Another little fact: the soldiers of the New Model Army (largely the infantry) were the first true redcoats. Contrary to the myth that red was chosen so soldiers wouldn't see blood, it was chosen for a much simpler reason: it was the cheapest dye available.

Early Ottomans, English History, Pacific war and so much more. It's an impressive feat from Kings and Generals Team to work on so many fronts at once.
Love and respect from India

There's a reason the British Army isn't called "The Royal Army", unlike the other branches of Britain's military such as The Royal Navy and Royal Air Force (RAF). That's because the modern British Army is descended from Parliamentarian's New Model Army which at the time of its creation did not acknowledge the authority of the king.

“The Lieutenant General energetically rode away to the rear.” The Lieutenant General rides forward into no man’s land.

Not Cromwell it was Sir Thomas Fairfax, the father of the British Army. Sir Thomas is over looked because of his integrity and honour that caused him to resign as CinC, rather than attack the Scottish allies he had stood shoulder to shoulder a few years before.

I feel like Thomas Fairfax often doesn’t get enough credit for his talents as a commander as well.

The production quality of these videos has been steadily increasing. I noticed it during the Italian Wars documentaries, but this really is incredible work.

Edit: Also, Rupert really was a pretty big badass

Would love to see Cromwell’s victory at Dunbar, where he won a victory with an encircled and exhausted army.

The Marquis of Montrose was a very skilled commander as well.

It would be great to see something on the Gallowglass. The Norse-Irish mercenaries who decided Irish battles up into the 1600s. The battle of Curlew Pass being an excellent example of their prowess.

This Montrose fella seems to be a great commander of men!

6:47 "Royalist allies were causing utter chaos". For some reason that cracked me up and made me laugh. 🤣🤣🤣

I must say: seeing the steady rise of this channel in terms of quality is just great. Hopefully you will maintain this upward trend, you guys surely deserve it.

We really need an episode on war prisoners and what happened to them after battles, where were they kept etc.

The Established Titles ad aged like milk lol.

Seriously though, I love these series, and thank you for your great work! Many of my favorite youtubers ran their ads.

Brilliant as always!
Looking forward to see how this series will describe the future of New Model Army and Cromwell. In a sense I feel it has something to do with how this war is positioned.

I think the Royalist side had some pretty competent leadership, Rupert seemed to be really good along with others
